Yeah I think what you said is the biggest issue with the redesign. Why after all these years would they take an established persona and then completely scrap it. I can understand a redesign (an overhaul of the artist approach to his look) but the new Dante literally retains zero likeness to the original. It is kinda baffling and definitely serves to alienate those fans who did appreciate his look from the originals.
I can't say that I really care for the new Dante. But the old Dante always kidna bugged me too. But thats largely because the whole Anime artist approach to video game characters doesn't sit so well with me. There are notable exceptions but on a whole I've always felt that art style does a very poor job of reflecting any actual characteristics of a person.
Just an opinion so don't eat me alive on this. While the new Dante does look emo, he seems more believab...
@kaveti
So by your logic all choose your own adventures are better than any other novels. That metaphor isn't just about story telling either, because there is much more to games than story. Linearity is a means for the developers to hand craft the experience. I for one typically prefer linear game structure to open world. Im not knocking open world, but linear structure is not just a result of limitation it is often a design decision.
I recently had my account hacked. Its currently under inspection by MS. They charged 75.00 but MS flagged it as a bogus charge so it never went through. I have no idea how they got my account but Im guessing it was a key logger using my MSN ID. Im not entirely sure since I've never given anyone my account. Id probably sleep easier if MS was actually hacked since that way it would be anything with my machine.
No punctuation, have you ever worked with the PS3 development tools? Compared to the 360 they are entirely lacking. Microsoft put a lot of effort into their dev tools and it shows. As such, being a developer, I'm sure Carmack appreciates them. His experience is more in developing than in playing. As such, his opinion is likely different than yours. Unless of course you're a multiplatform developer as well. In which case, Im surprised you don't agree that developing for the PS3 is ...
Yeah, but EA is American. I doubt DICE would handle any copywrite / legal matters too. I think EA would be the ones sicing their lawyers on people. Over this however, not so much.
Also, I made my way up to the DICE floor in their building when I was in Stockholm. They have such a ridiculously awesome office.
Blizz uses it to combat cheaters. Which as an avid SC2 player I do appreciate. Again, not condoning it, but it does help with certain things.
Its unfortunate. But the fact remains that blizzard uses this as a means of catching cheaters and validating your software license. I think it sucks, but it if it saves PC gaming by heavily combating piracy than I won't put up too much of a fight. I will say, it irritates me still since my SC2 account says I've never beaten the campaign because I did so while my internet was out. I was playing the Single player because I couldn't play the multi. Looks like now I won't even be ...
Yup Vanquish is wonderful. To bad it didn't sell well because I was really hoping there'd be a sequel with a multiplayer component.
You may be partially right. But I still tune in whenever I can to watch PsyStarcraft play since hes my favorite player / caster. Hes not the greatest (damn better than me... found that out when he did a fan game with me) and is enjoyable to watch because he doesn't have to be politically correct with what he says.
That said, I think hes one of the better casters as far as entertainment goes, so just being a good player isn't going to get you very far.
Yeah, they make money off ads. (the streamers that is)
While I see your point they do have to handle server upkeep and all that and while Im sure valve is still making a hefty chunk of change they're also offering a platform for indie devs to launch on where otherwise they would just be a whisper in the wind.
Wow... doom 3 running at that low FPS? Maybe he just really likes things from 2004 and thus hasn't updated his PC since then.
Edit: also, i just noticed the video, it seems to be running just fine. Those shots were plrobably being taken at some obscene resolution.
I think you mean Old Spice Give up the old spice already. Ya know, since this is an Old Spice video.
I've heard on fairly good authority that its about 30%. Which, comparatively is actually really good.
@bull
Well, he's kinda a lady killer in the game. So, perhaps a witcher is someone who wrangles witches. Or more likely it's a term that exists in the context of the game and doesn't have a real world basis.
I understand your point and I can certainly sympathize. Im a gamer just like you. However the thing that bugs be about these articles is a seeming air of entitlement like these devs owe something beyond a solid gaming experience. While it could be argued that cutting features for used games is not delivering a quality experience there is the counter argument that even the top end game studios aren't exactly swimming in money. Unlike the RIAA argument where it was hard to feel bad for mult...
Im 25 so what I do is normal. You guys over 30 are fucking weird. Get a life.
Kidding of course! Keep on gaming fellas! And if theres one thing thats true its that the average age of gamers is going to keep going up as kids who grew up with video games continue to play. The only fear I have with gaming is that my reaction time will slow as I age. I think Im already feeling it in Starcraft lol.
Wait, I thought it was fox that hated video games. I can't find the clip but judging from the picture I don't think Ill be taking my life advice from two washed out harlots who can't understand, and thus dismiss, many adults favorite hobby. My advice to them is if you're over 30 and look like a star of the Jersey Shore, maybe take it easy on the bleach. Also, I understand the hypocrisy of my statement (judging them based on looks) but Im fighting fire with fire here.
Tanir, Im not condoning cookie cutter space marines either. But thats not what this discussion was about. As well, I should have been more specific in that 2D games are being excluded from what I was saying. Its more that I feel that more often than not the translation from 2D to 3D anime styling doesn't work that well. Now, Ryu and that whole cast would be an exception because they were 2D to start so naturally the transition of them into 3D for SF4 they would have to have the same style...
