Well, like it or not, reviews do influence many people in acquiring a game or not, and since metacritic is the average of reviews, so yes, it does influence... and a lot. It might not influence a small portion of gamers, but most gamers buy or preeorder games after the reviews start rolling.
Just take the example of Heavy Rain, after the reviews started rolling, the games preorders and 1st day sales increased dramatically... and has happened with many other games.

They've got to be joking... for using a lousy excuse for the lack of the option "carrying dead bodies" in the game. It would be a better excuse if they just said that they did not want to put that option in the game.

Kojima and Konami are really trying to hype this game with articles, interviews and videos, but not many people are hyped about buying the game. The hype meter for the game is down there.

The funny thing is... when motion control was limited to the Wii it was crap and the Wii was crap. Now Sony and Microsoft have adopted it, motion control automatically becomes the next best thing.

I finished Heavy Rain and thought it was a interesting game with a great story, but with very limit gameplay. Gameplay is the most important thing in a game, and Heavy Rain has lack of it. Honestly i don't think Heavy Rain deserved all those 10's it got, because it's no way near a perfect game. It was way overhyped. Quantic Dream's older game Fahrenheit was a better game then Heavy Rain.

If we take world wide sales beside Japan, the X360 has probably a slight edge in relation to the PS3, but Japanese sales is clearly making up for that. Microsoft is practicably dead in Japan. If i was Microsoft, i would probably stop promoting the X360 over there and invest my money in promoting the X360 in the rest of the world. Japanese clearly don't like the X360, so they should just move on. In relation to Nintendo, they are just beating the crap out of Microsoft and Sony in world sales ...

This is starting to remind me ... Fable 2, Gears of War 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars among other X360 exclusives would arrive sooner or later to the PC. Well... until now they still have not arrived. Same thing with MGS4 that would arrive at the X360, but still has not come.
