I would say that Lair is representative of everything wrong with the entire current world of video games in terms of the marketing surrounding games. Too large a portion of these inflated budgets are dedicated to selling us on the game, while the actual games themselves either suffer from under development, or over exposure. And the result is that gamers are too busy waiting (and worrying) for the next big thing, or their System Savior as I call it. Then, when these games are finally relea...

Fact.

It is a term that was relevant post War of Independence that expressed our freedom from the colonial rule of England. As far as my definition of freedom goes, free country is no longer relevant to the US, for the above reason (being an outdated notion) and as our personal freedoms guranteed in the Constitution are systematically being rolled back and denied, ala Patiot Act and warrantless wiretapping. Also, children throw out the term as a sort of get out of jail free card as a way to justi...

You fellas confused on the idea of protected speech might want to bone up on the Bill of Rights, and the Supreme Courts interpretation of the First Amendment. Not all speech is protected, certainly not threats even made in a joking manner.

Oh, and the term "free county" is absurd, especially when refering to the United States.

Considering that I have 7 games that were released within the last 6 months to catch up on and play, I'm not really worried about any console's 1st quarter offerings.

While I disagree with you about the neccessity of communication on the digital battlefield (teams that win a lot tend to talk to each other a lot), I agree completely that including a microphone packed in with each console gives many who shouldn't be talking the ability to ruin the experience for others. But, its the internets, and its annonymous, and it gives unbalanced people the annonimity necessary to say the things that would otherwise get their faces smashed in public.

Meh. The trailer was passable. I'll wait for the final game to definitely say "been there, done that."

Oh, absolutley. I am a competitive clays shooter so its kinda madatory. But, that aside, the problem is a cultural issue, and one that is not correctable by outlaw, whether it be banning games or guns. Its like how prohibition of alcohol in the early 20th century didn't reduce social ills, only increased it through bootlegging. Like how criminalizing various drugs hasn't reduced drug crime or addiction, only created a new market for criminals.

So, I think we are in agreemen...

Because banning something makes it disappear completely, right? That would clear the streets right up, huh? Not quite. According to a Bureau of Justice 1997 survey of State (United) Prison inmates among those possessing a gun, the source of the gun was from:

* a flea market or gun show for fewer than 2%
* a retail store or pawnshop for about 12%
* family, friends, a street buy, or an illegal source for 80%

I'm your disagree, but its really only because of your ridiculous generalization at the end of your comment. Bit of a slippery slope, dontcha think? But, I'm not going to write you off just yet, as you've taken your name from a Misfits song you can't be that closeminded.

Rachel FTW.

BTW the girls I know that have watched me play Ninja Gaiden, or have played any of the myriad fighting games alongside me aren't offended by the size of the female character's tits. If anything, they're found to be comical, because they are, as is the notion that the tits aren't there to sell games to target demographics. Because, they are. So, how about we just turn off the caring, sensitive-man BS for a moment and relish in the enjoyment of a set of fantastic che...

I definitely noticed, and that's why I gave you props in my head. And you managed to one-up me with St. Anger. I did vomit.

Agreed. Especially when they could just keep releasing dowloadable content instead of a new media disk every year. New game modes, venues, songs, and in game store content can be added with add ons and patches, if they decide to update the gameplay. I don't need a legion of plastic guitars sitting around my house like I'm Nigel effing Tufnel.

It will be terrible.

There are nights when I dream that it was Lars, and not Cliff Burton, that died in that bus wreck. Then, I wake up and remember Load, Reload, and St. Anger, in fact, do exist and the feeling I get is almost exactly that same as when I awaken from the dream wherein I am a millionaire and, upon waking, I realize that I am ultimately not.

Impossible? For some of these, hardly. I've beaten the original Ninja Gaiden again within the last month thanks to the Virtual Console. Also, about eleven years ago I was able to beat Contra without losing a life, with another player, who happened to be my girlfriend at the time. To beat Tyson, you had to pay attention to his eyes, and their blinking patters, plus there was a passcode system that the author of that article didn't even mention, and the code to Tyson was 007-373-5963. G's a...

PowerofGreen, I believe what you are doing is known to psychologists as "projection." Nowhere in allforcalisto's original post did he even mention the PS3; you did that in your post and then proceeded to confuse the issue, having no idea what he even said. Your responses are some b4tsh1t funny stuff and your insanity has made my morning, but even though I have been personally entertained by you, might I suggest seeking one of these mental health professionals out because it is cl...

Wow. A PC port runs better on a machine that is engineered to be developed for like a PC. How is anyone really suprised by this? This doesn't negate the fact that this is the BEST VALUE IN GAMING.

You know what's funny? If I only consumed entertainment that ranked 90 or higher on a composite review site then I would probably only be able to see 3 movies a year and wouldn't be able to listen to any music. For some reason, I feel that the people who place so much emphasis on a manufactured idea like "AAA Video Game Title" are the same people who pay absolutely no attention to these review sites when a movie like Transformers gets, for the most part (which is what Metacritic, e...

I was going to say the same thing here. The franchise was born on the arcade, ignited on the NES, and kicked quite a bit of a$$ pre 3D (albeit as a pretty different type of game experience).

That said, I'm cautiously optimistic about this game. I would hate to see the difficulty turned down (the regenerating health bar suggests this to a degree) as this franchise has always been brutally difficult and I think easing it off to make it more accesible to a larger market would ...
