This is an insane comment in its lack of historical awareness. The original Ninja Gaiden games on the NES are watersheds of gaming in regards to presentation of story (vis a vis rudimentary cut scenes to push forward the story - one of ,if not the first game to do so), difficulty, and on screen action.
Feel what you want to about the 3D iterations but the original NGs aren't as insignificant as you would seem to imply.
I'm sure Itagaki will miss you. BTW this is nothing new for him. He's openly criticized GOW in the past. Now, he's criticizing DMC. Big deal. Its free publicity.

Justgamez - You pretty much need to play all three to get the story but MGS1 and MGS2 are going to be fundamental to understanding what is going on. Past games had the ability to read in text form what had happened up until then. I would anticipate this being included in MGS4 as well.

Actually Ace, NGII is reportedly around 30 hours in length as per the official website. They are also claiming that there will be another Master Ninja Tournament, which is, for all intents and purposes, a type of multiplayer event. I guess we'll know for sure in a month.

Ninja Gaiden was my favorite game of last generation. Period. I'm excited to get my hands on the demo for II. There are some additions that I'm not 100% about yet (regenerating health for one) but the combat looks enhanced and that's really what I buy the ticket for anyway. Its essentially a fighting game masquerading as a hack and slash.
