Reading this made me nostalgic for days gone. I miss you Squaresoft. During the 90s, I spent thousands of hours in your worlds, and loved every one. We grew up together, and I know without a shadow of doubt that who I am today is at least partially the result of the messages imparted in your stories. I know it will never be the same, and its partly your fault and partly mine. You changed and so did I.

Glasses up and cheers, Square! I can't help but think that Enix change...

Broadened? Yes. Created? No. Sony reached out to an older audience not interested in the games being made by Nintendo and Sega. I was 15 when the PS1 released. At that age I wanted something different from what I'd been playing. The N64 was not giving me that. The PS1 did. I appreciate and respect that very much but let's not go crazy. The PS1 was a machine in the fifth generation of consoles, after all.

I will be curious to see how many older games even have trophies added as a feature. Assuming that third party (or even second party) devs are going to go back and add trophies is a little too presumptuous for me. If trophies are like achievements then they have to be programmed into the games. How many companies do you honestly think are going to go back and recode their games to release patches to feature these unlockables? I'm going to be pessimistic and say not many. Nor would I real...

Well, MGS challenges the concept of what can traditionally be considered a "game." It blurs the line between game and movie like no other game I've played. I have no problem with the cut scenes and enjoy watching them, as they are the highest quality I've seen. In fact, I just finished up Act 3 last night and even my fiancee, who usually is too busy reading wedding magazines to pay much notice, was enthralled to the point of asking me serious questions about what was going on. Sh...

@thereapersson - I understand. Well said and cheers.

@thewood - thanks man! Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriche...

I agree with the sentiment, but don't you find it hypocritical to take this stance after your post # 10, where you base your premise (God of War is superior based upon critical acclaim) on the concept of a so called AAA title?

Its pretty clear you have not played this game. This technique hasn't worked since they released Black and fixed the exploit. You try spamming the flying swallow against the enemies on this game and you are in for some serious pain. Most of them (and all the bosses) have unblockable counters that will end your turn should you throw this move at them repeatedly. For example, Genshin's own flying swallow is much faster than Ryu's and is almost automatic should you even jump while fighing hi...

I'm sorry for anyone who is too wrapped in only playing games that are cosidered "AAA" (given the current climate of game journalism in regards to their comprimised integrity, this is a ridiculous notion). I am a fan of both the DMC and GOW series but when it comes to action gaming NG is the best in breed. Its combat is flawless. I play action games for the combat and each of the games seven primary weapons are so deep you can drown days into learning the subtlest nuances. The c...

. . . which is what the bubble system on this site does. And, seeing as how you only have two left it appears, based upon your sentiment, that the system is working.

I like that game very much. Any Wii owner with an open mind should give it a shake.

Metacritic interprets a B- as a 67.

[edit] Criticism of game metascores
Many video game reviewers take issue with the way Metacritic assigns scores. When a game reviewer gives a video game a rating of "A", Metacritic assigns it a value of 100. When a reviewer gives a game a rating of "F", Metacritic assigns it a value of 0 — although some reviewers think a score of 50 is more appropriate.[1] When a reviewer gives a game a rating of "B-", Met...

Eurogamer gave NG2 a 7.

Wangdiddy - You're a hilarious specimen of homo sapiens and an example to be used in the argument for restricted breeding. With comments of this caliber I can't believe that you only have 2 bubbles left. Presupposition, generalization, hate speech, intollerance of others opinions. Awesome.

Dudes, quit pouring your souls into someone elses opinion. An 8 is in no way a bad score and really, what does it matter? If someones review score negatively effects your own individual enjoyment of something then there is a bigger problem than the nonsense weight now applied to Metacritic. Don't sweat this crap guys. Think for yourselves.

NG2 was never going to be a massive hit. Anyone who thought this had their heads up their asses. The 3D restart was one of the most polarizing games of last generation. You either loved it or hated it. It was insanely difficult with a vertical learning curve and not only did you have to fight smart, tactical, and abundantly deadly enemies, you also had to fight the camera. It wasn't until Black that they even allowed it to be adjusted outside of the right trigger. By the credible reviews...
