It's really funny to think back to Final Fantasy XV's 10-year development cycle and how many people cosplayed those characters before the game was released. Jokes aside, this game looks incredible! Guerrilla Games has crafted some truly beautiful games, but Horizon Zero Dawn really stands on its own in the industry.
I agree with your discussion completely. Boss fights that fit the narrative are the best way to go. In regards to BioShock and Arkham Asylum, thinking back in terms of story alone, the final boss fights had the potential to make sense, but they were executed so poorly that they defeated the entire purpose of their respective games. Fontaine and Joker both pulled all the strings, so it fit to end the games with confrontations with the antagonists, but not in horribly formulaic duels.

I'm not super keen on the idea of placing the game between 2 & 3 (inbetween-quels don't sit too well with me) but placing it far away enough from Commander Shephard's conclusion will make it easier for it to stand on its own in regards to the canon. Space is also a pretty big place too so I'm sure crazy stuff happens out there all the time. I'm more than ready for another Mass Effect entry, though. I still can't believe Andromeda will be released in a little over a...
Hopefully once this title is out of early access it will have that lag nailed down. ALSO very surprised that Mr. Schwarzenegger isn't a part of this. A little bit of star power can go a long way and if Mobile Strike can talk him into commercials, I'm sure returning to a past character would interest him. I also didn't realize that the Conan franchise began way back in 1932. Snap crackle pop!
Isometric adventure titles are really good at giving players a sense of scale. While I'm not too well-versed in the genre, I can certainly appreciate the visual direction and the environments established through what I have seen with Beautiful Desolation.
While I really enjoy a lot of what I have seen and played, RE VII feels like it took out a lot of the franchise's personality. The dialogue is a little more than vulgar and its lack of connectivity with the rest of the series (Spoiler Alert) until the very end kinda bums me out. That being said, gameplay-wise, this title is everything a survival horror title should be like. I still very much want to own this game and play it over and over again, especially in VR, that stuff is the real de...
I am really digging the art style for this game. The water is especially impressive. Everything is textured as if it were a painting. Sometimes for me, art is enough of a reason to enjoy a game.
This game looks really really interesting. I don't believe I have ever invested in a Kickstarter, even though I love the concept. The most important part of a crowd-funded project is communication between the developers and the backers to keep the faith.
I am hoping that each part of the Star Wars franchise is given fair treatment in Battlefront II. While the prequel films may be polarizing among fans, there is no doubt that they added a wealth of diversity when it comes to planets, races, and characters. While it's still too early to see everything the most recent trilogy will add to the franchise, it would be nice for it to have a stronger presence as well. Especially since The Last Jedi releases this holiday as well.
Flash sales have really impacted perceived value as well. One day a game is sold for 60 bucks and then on a random weekend, somebody can get that same game with the season pass for $30. Games get into more hands through flash sales, but it leads to a depreciation of value.
I feel that the title will make its way to the Nintendo Switch eventually. They are definitely aware of the fanbase surrounding the series and after seeing how well similar titles can do, referencing Undertale, it's only a matter of time until its release. Same thing with Metroid, I am sure they have something HUGE in the works for that franchise, they are just waiting for the perfect time.
It really makes me wonder if they are setting us up to believe it's an older incarnation of Link and then have it be a brand new Link who's story is entirely within this game alone and all the vibes we get from other titles are merely fanservice. Either way! I am extraordinarily excited!
I would love to get more invested in VR but the cost is still too high for me to sink my teeth into. While it is certainly an astounding experience, there aren't enough titles I am interested in to warrant the purchase. The industry is really trying to push both VR and 4KHDR. It will be interesting to see if the increase in performance promised by the PS4 Pro and Xbox One Project Scorpio exceeds the interest in virtual reality or vice versa.
It'll be interesting to see where this title goes. The 4 button layout from MvC3 was certainly what helped me learn the way of fighting games, but now that I've grown accustomed to other fighters, I would really like a six button layout. I hope to see a great variety of fan favorites and new surprises when it comes to the character roster.
These titles certainly tell stories in their own original ways. I'd love to play them all and see what i take from them. Unfortunately I played Undertale with prior knowledge. It was still an incredible experience nonetheless.
This game will only truly succeed if there are Schwarzenegger quotes everywhere. Even outside of Conan the Barbarian. Jokes aside, it sounds great!
Great interview! I am sure that the workload for this game was intensive, but it sounds that Mr. Croasdell really enjoyed his role in the game. I can't wait to see more of him throughout the game and in the additional DLC.
I am very sad to see this title end up like this. I will probably still give it a shot since it's been such a long time waiting for it.
Today's culture has no home for anything that isn't the "Best" thing in its market. There's no longer room for a game to be just okay, or for a movie to be only entertaining. There is a constant pressure from developers, consumers, and studios to make products award winning. This kind of method will really stagnate creativity with everyone trying to out-do one another instead of just creating one's own original experience. Things will be changing for Hello Games, hop...
I apologize, that wasn't the point I was trying to make. I brought the Titans into the conversation because Joker was basically just a glorified version of the Titan enemy, not a real boss at all. All of the other bosses in the games had their place, but there wasn't anything inherently unique or necessary about the Joker boss fight.
I discussed the Big Daddies because they were better Boss Fights than the final fight against Fontaine.
