It is a big deal because bullshit hype is bullshit? The fact that we have to apparently be excited about the specific race of a character in this game shows that the 'hype' is grasping at straws.
This is what happens if you basically tell all of your fans "F*ck you GIVE ME MONEY!!!" That is literally all Activision is, people need to realize this.
They have said this would be the case for the past 3 games and each time, it was a lie. This will be no different. Activision is scum.

We say this every single year and without fail, the games never live up their own marketing and hype. That is because Activision are a group of crafty bastards that know how to get people sucked in purely with marketing tactics, then once the game comes out, it is nowhere near as enjoyable as the trailers made them look like. This will be no different, mark my words.
When will people realize that Activision is one of the greediest companies on the planet? Of course they will not give you the option to buy it sperately, they want to make sure people buy the new copy and paste warfare, they want all the money they can get out of you. We are just walking money to them, they don't give a shit about us or about gaming.
The additions as of late have been very underwhelming. Mostly arcade games and most of those aren't even good ones. Skate 3 was 'confirmed' back in December and we haven't gotten a single word about that one since. As much as Microsoft touted it before, they are really being unclear with the BC thing lately.
This weapon is the sole reason to why I hate the multiplayer in Gears of War.

Knowing the odds Activision will hand this off to some D-team and the ports will be horrendous. Same thing happened with the Prototype games.
I really hope season 3 doesn't start with some time-skip thing and nullifies all of our choices in season 2. The whole 'choices' aspect of this game has been pointless so far. What's the point of giving us a choice to save someone over the other when they both are going to die anyways?
I have fallen through the world on multiple occasions, the matchmaking has bugged out on me multiple times, there is a glitch that is still present that prevents you from reviving people, and the list goes on. You have a game that is this high profile and yet it is THIS broken? Not to mention that the mission design in this game is atrocious, Falcon Lost is one of the dumbest things I have ever played in any game. I think this game's criticisms are well warranted. For me, this series died entirely after Black Ops 2. Black Ops 3 somehow has less zombie content than Black Ops 2 had out of the box. The campaign for BO3 was also abysmal. The multiplayer? The same old stuff with some gimmicks thrown in. I am fairly certain that the next game will be just that. The same stuff with some gimmicks that they will act like is the greatest thing since bacon when in reality it is shallow and pointless. Yay Call of Duty.

I would actually be quite happy. Both the Wii and Wii U have been disappointments for me and seeing Nintendo hit their stride again would be awesome.
