Microsoft may have a different vision for the future and want us to change, but they don't have to be dicks about used game sales and forcing online. That's not a vision, those are unnecessary evils.
PS4: Fully functional for free except multiplayer
Xbox One: About as useful as a paperweight without Live.
No comparison really.
I don't get it... Sony has said there are no used game restrictions, Sony said the PS4 won't be required to be online... what facade do we need to be looking through?
"Microsoft responded to queries about the console's online capabilities, saying anyone without an internet connection powerful enough to handle the console's online requirements would have to settle for an Xbox 360. Australian gamers baulked at this news, like as if regional Australia matters in the design of a gaming console by an American company."
I'm an American and I feel even this reeks of American ignorance. We are not the center of the universe. ...
I think this is a great move by Sony. I would have preferred that the PSN stay free so we don't have to pay, but the way they are handling this matter is brilliant.
When you get a new computer you don't have to pay Dell or Microsoft or whoever manufactures the computer to get online. You only pay your ISP. Think if you had to pay an additional subscription to the manufacturer of the computer just to use internet. That's exactly what Microsoft is doing.

@ Lvl up gamer
I actually don't mind the always online Xbone, either. But not for the reasons you state.
Ever since Microsoft announced always online and used game restrictions, I smiled. I knew gamers would speak up and you don't need to look far to see the PS4 taking over retail sales already. It looks like the next generation will switch in favor of Sony and it's good to see common sense developing with consumers in this industry. So Microsoft ...
I have nothing to complain about that. I believe open world games provide more replayability and makes me feel in control of the story and how fast it progresses.
Damn... I forgot that I'm screwed if I get thirsty playing the PS4. This changes everything!
I agree. At least if the PSN goes down you can still use your PS4 to play games offline, watch movies, use internet services, etc. This "always online Xbox" thing looks worse and worse all the time.
@Moonman
While I agree the game looks alright (for Wii standards), the point Blues Cowboy made was that Nintendo was showing games not releasing until 2014. You have two powerhouse consoles releasing at the end of THIS year. MK 8 may sell units, but by then we'll be sitting pretty with some incredible games coming out for next gen systems while Nintendo keeps rehashing old ideas.
MK 8 will sell over 10 million... in maybe 3-4 years. Currently, Mario Kart ...
I suppose i was thinking of the current gen systems all launching in November. However, I still think it's smart to release closer to Christmas and also wait until Microsoft announces the X1's release date.
Hahaha! I feel like I should be eating popcorn... Microsoft is putting on its very own 3 Stooges movie.
I don't think this means that we will see at max one game per month. Three games could be for free at any point between November and December.
I have a feeling it will be the beginning of November. November is always a big release month for new consoles.
Currently, in the US, the first Xbox One game to show up in Amazon's top selling list is Forza at #31. The first PS4 game shows up at #8 with Watch Dogs and three other PS4 games crack the top 20.
It's pretty incredible that the consumers have not only voiced their opinion against Microsoft, but have spoken with their wallets, too.
I understand if you want to buy an Xbox for some exclusives, and more power to you if you do, but other than exclusives why even bother with the hassle of what Microsoft is doing?
We already know the PS4 is more powerful, we know there are no used game restrictions and probably no online passes at all anymore, no required internet connection, PS+ is optional unless you want to play multiplayer and PS+ has received rave reviews for its value... I just don't understand the ...
I don't think DivineAssault appreciates your sweet nothings, dear.
Sony's hit harder, I believe.
Everyone was wondering about Sony's used game policy and they answered. Everyone wondered what it looked like and they answered (with mixed reviews on looks). Everyone wondered what price it will be and they answered to applause throughout the auditorium.
Microsoft was really focused in on the games, but they had so much ground already to make up from their lackluster May conference. Sony had already shown inFamous, Killz...
At least we have the option of purchasing the PS Eye separately. And it's still only $59. So $359 for a superior console without DRM that let's me trade/borrow/rent/sell my games that doesn't spy on me while I sleep sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
I can't even begin to count the number of games I had for the PSone and PS2. Those were the glory days where the games you purchased remained unchanged and unaffected by DLC and corporate greed. We saw many great games come out of those generations (counting the N64 and Xbox, as well).
Now we have planned DLC, DLC that is actually ON the disc (Resident Evil 6) and is only unlocked when you pay for it, used game prohibition, online passes, etc. Even early in the PS3 days I...
I'm going to guess that Just Cause 2 could do it because they had two different states of each object: undamaged or destroyed. Once you destroyed it the game would then just load the destroyed state of that object and it wouldn't be taxing on the RAM.
From what I gather here, inFamous will render damage on everything no matter how little or small and the damage will be there permanently. To do this on, presumably, thousands of objects in inFamous would be an incredibl...
