Hate to say it (not really), but DoA was crap to begin with. NG is pretty good though.
Anyone that can defeat Dr. Doom with a bunch of squirrels would be amazing to play as.

I went to update my PS3 and around the 37% mark, poof! System turns off and there's a blinking red light.
I touch the on surface and then next thing I know, I have a cute little yellow light glowing out of my system for a good second or two before going back to blinking red.

Also, just about any SNK fighting game boss is harder than Seth.
You'd be surprised on how long it takes to balance out fighting game characters. If the development team isn't careful, there can be characters that unfairly dominate everyone (and I don't mean characters that are considered high tier; I mean characters that have infinites and such.)
That and I'm fairly sure that the main focus right now is on Marvel vs Capcom 3, with Street Fighter x Tekken being an afterthought as of right now.

GameInformer always (and I mean ALWAYS) go crazy for Mortal Kombat. Seeing it so high up isn't surprising not only because the game seems to be making a huge comeback, but also because GI just love Mortal Kombat.
They even gave Deception a 9.5! That game was barely even passable in my opinion and GI gave it a 9.5!

Sorry to say, but DoA 4 was not breathtaking when it first released. I remember right when DoA 4 came out, Virtua Fighter 5 was announced and holy shit was that a more impressive looking game.
One thing that really did disappoint me about DoA 4 graphically was that a lot of the screenshots that I saw for DoA 4 had a motion blur look to it.
