It's not the first game to merge RTS with 3rd person action. Look up a game called Sacrifice. And yes, it's on pc.

I completed Deus Ex again recently and while it may not look that great now it's got far deeper gameplay than most games released today.
The Source engine is still impressive today. Portal 2 was a great looking game, and the animation in particular was excellent.
They are always updating the engine, it's not like it's the same as it was when HL2 was launched, the difference between now and then is pretty dramatic.
Looks great, and the facial animation is outstanding.

Do you want to buy games so you can use texture mods, or do you have games that you would like to use texture mods with?
In any case, games I've used texture mods with that have been fairly bug free are (off the top of my head) -
Oblivion, Morrowind, Deus Ex 1 and 2, Thief series, Doom series, GTA series, Crysis, Far Cry, Stalker series, Fallout 3, System Shock 2, Half Life series, and loads more I can't quite remember at this time.

I agree, it's far better playing against someone in the same room as opposed to fighting against some faceless person who may well disconnect as soon as you start kicking their ass.
