The newest game Nintendo is working on is Splatoon, which is a new IP. The new Star Fox game has actually been in motion for quite some time.

The point I'm making is consumers vote with their wallets.
So even if their only interest is money, they're actions are still influenced by the consumer because the consumers are the ones who control those wallets that they are listening to.

The consumers.
Consumers were the ones who wanted it and Microsoft realized that giving the consumer what they want will increase sales and income.
This is what happens when you listen to feedback! When you listen to what your consumers want, you are rewarded.

Splatoon was just revealed at E3 and is a new IP.
Most of the games at E3 didn't have Mario in them.
Also, The WiiU can handle modern day games.

The anime actually played a big part in the success of Pokémon. Especially in the west, where the anime came before the games for a lot of people.
