8 million in that timeframe is pretty bad. It's competition is selling almost 5 times as many units.
It's not just selling badly in the American market though. I agree, it has improved, but there is a lot more room for improvement.

The 3DS has sold 10 million in America, 11 million in Europe, 15 million in Japan, and a couple million in the other areas it's available in.
To say that the handheld market is dead everywhere but Japan is ridiculous. Just because the Vita isn't selling well outside of Japan does not mean the market for handhelds is dead.
Microsoft may have hired new people but they have nowhere near the amount of talent the old rare has.

There are plenty of magazines that have portrayed female gamers in a better light. I mean you have Nintendo's Girl Gamer magizine (I think this was discontinued though), BioGamer Girl has a section for gaming, etc...
There are plenty of other publications made specifically for female gamers.
If they release a new Fallout, I hope they keep all the choice we had in New Vegas. I loved all of the choices we had and how they all affect narrative at the end.
