If the system is between $380-$400 I think it can do about as well as the first systems launch, which I believe was estimated to be little over 14 million, just behind the ps4's launch numbers... Anything over $400 ($399.99) will be a much harder sell

The problem I had with the vita was that, Sony was framing it as a handheld PS3 at the time and a companion to the PS3
In my opinion the vita was at it's best when it was just trying to be a Sony handheld... Games like wipeout 2048 and freedom wars are still to this day some of my favorite handheld games (glad freedom wars is getting a port to consoles and switch)

Like people have said, they are potentially getting anime and manga as well as one of the better known and respected Japanese Devs of the modern gaming era, and there is nothing stopping Sony from putting the games on Xbox anyway
Worse case scenario is that Sony takes a few billion hit, which they can shrug off since the PS4 and 5 did/doing so well
Just because fromsoft don't own anything in terms of games doesn't mean that can't change.
I can imagine fromsoftware taking a crack at a god of war game, or, under Sony leadership making new IP with Sony funding using their expertise with soulsbourne games as the base
