i remember this happening to other games.
the "weight" of certain reviewers of their choice allows metacritic to basically adjust the overall rating a few points higher or lower. and there is no way to verify the math cause the weighed scores are undisclosed.
this way, they can make a 85 become an 83 or an 87 and nobody knows whats up.

i think it makes good promo for sony and the publishers. think about it, they released RE5 gold edition just before the release of RE6. they did the same thing with the 1st Borderlands, right before B2 launched. now i know it doesnt launch immediately but they're giving Crysis 2 when number 3 is coming up.
give people a game that is part of a saga and they might consider buying the sequel if they liked it, or get the DLC for it.
