Very little difference, however when you do look at the benchmarks in the more high profile games Nvidia does appear to have the advantage. As stated NYC_Gamer; I'll be going with Nvidia because of driver support. I'm holding out for a possible 4GB version for next month or I'll just pick up a version which is already available.
I agree it is speculation and should simply be treated as a rumor for now. However, if this is true this could go both ways. If microsoft's next system does the same then it will be no big deal, but if Sony is alone on this then things will get really interesting. I do understand the reason for wanting to cut out used games, as it cuts into developers sales.
16GB is a little overkill, but it's okay for future proofing seeing that ram is so cheap as of now. I bought 16gb (1600) for $60 so I say if you can find a good sale on ram then why not, however 8GB will do you just fine.

There's really no clear evidence to point to, bu indo believe there is an assertive effort to make all multiplatform games perform similarly on each respective platform. The only one which I can say is usually head and shoulders above the rest is the PC, and really only occurs when it's optimized for said platform.

I will be running a single GPU. I'll be selecting a 580 or 680 when it comes out. You're right with the single 590. It will last you at least 10 years as those I believe that card is a dual GPU. I love Socom like most of its die hard followers, but I think slant six and zipper have not made an excellent Socom this generation on consoles. Confrontation was good, but not great, and the Socom 4 was okay.

I understand Halo, but GTA and MGS? This console generation there has been Halo 3, Halo ODST, Halo Reach, Halo Anniversary and Halo Wars if you want to count the latter two. There has been one GTA and one MGS besides the two handheld games on the psp which they ported to consoles which really doesn't count. MGS4 came out in 2008 I believe as well as GTA 4 (could have been 2007). Why would those franchises need to take a break?

It's sad that these people are being closed down, but being a long time Zipper fan I have to say that they have not made a great game since Socom 2. Yes I know they're those who like M.A.G, but none of the games this generation have been great (opinion). Hopefully these talented men and women can find other work and put their talent to future endeavors.
