Anyone remember that album? freaking amazing, but I digress...
What if in the future the government taps our minds, and it's determined that our crime sprees in GTA XIII indicate we're completely and irrevocably insane, and we ARE jailed virtual crimes.
I'm not paranoid, but we AREN'T too distant from that possible reality.
@Roblef: 100% true - look at STEAM, which most of the time charges full retail price for a downloaded version of a game.
I'm always torn about titles like Dead Space. I have no doubt it's a truly scary game, and one of EA's rare masterpieces. But it's difficult to justify dropping $60 on it.
Then again, when it's rented or purchased 2nd hand, the developers/publishers don't see that revenue - equally as important, they don't see it as a statistic necessarily.
Solution? What about budget-pricing titles like Dead Space with limited replay value at $39.99?
RPG's typically translate fairly well on the US side of the fence, especially if they begin in English ;-)
It's RTS's that just can't make the leap without being muddled and overly complex.
But I've been craving me some awesome RPG action (I'm currently exploring Lost Odyssey for the 1st time) so I'm looking very much forward to the 360 release of Sacred 2.
It's shinier, but not as functional. The last 3 or 4 firmware updates for the PS3 have introduced massive new functionality.
I bet they will bgrundman. I don't see the next Xbox being released until 2011, but by then as you say we'll probably have an uber-polished NXE operating system.
But, I'd like to think we can customize it by then...
Your list, while some of it is debatable, reminds me of similar-spirited gripes that were published when Vista was released :-) Microsoft NEVER gets it right the first OR second time. Expect the NXE to be all polished and perfect by Q1 - 2010.
Nintendo did NOT invent motion control, but they excel at honing and perfecting the user experience, much like Apple. You have to give them credit for that.
That didn't take long...Good for them, hopefully they can climb out of their debt.
I never saw it :-(
But regardless, this may just be my 1st PS3 BluRay purchase.
...and if Apple implemented a proper way of demo'ing each game that was released.
I think it depends on what you want, as a gamer. The PS3 in my opinion has a more well rounded lineup (platformers like LittleBigPlanet, shooters like Resistance 2) while the 360 definitely caters more to the adult gamer (Gears 2, L4D, etc)
The staff was working on the list before PoP and Resistance were released - and without having played them 1st hand we couldn't give a recommendation for them in advance.
Sure, it's a safe bet to wholeheartedly recommend them before playing both, but we thought that would be careless...
Where's the N-Gage?
;-)
They forgot that category. For the gamers who enjoy torturing themselves - GRID and MegaMan 9 :-)
I'm not surprised at the score, but I do thoroughly AC/DC's music. But the pricepoint and the whole "Walmart exclusive" business really sours me.
For now, I'll be grabbing Dr. Feelgood and some Foo Fighters..
he opens the article:
"Here are some things you may want in a console: Online connectivity (check), web browsing (check), top of the line graphics (check), games that are only available on the machine (check), free online play (check), and connectivity to a portable (check). This may seem like a description of the Playstation 3…"
That's proof it WAS ahead of it's time.
PS: POWERSTONE SUCKAS!
Why DID they end up cutting it's life short? Wasn't it sluggish sales? Maybe the Dcast was ahead of it's time.
I don't even know where to start. That system just had some kind of special videogaming magic. Now I want to fire it up and revisit Jet Grind Radio..
We sincerely appreciate that, man. Thanks for taking the time to digest it.
