Anything that opens up indie developers to a large audience is a win in my book.
I have some guilt about this game. Despite it's technical brilliance, I just couldn't get into it. Could have been when it was released...
I should give it another chance.
and unfortunately I had a difficult time getting into it. I'm not denying the brilliance of it, just couldn't enjoy the game mechanics for some reason.
Say what you will about UNO - but it has a certain magic to it, especially when one is drunk...
BRAVO!!! man I hope these guys keep producing vids.
I'm w/ all of you. I'm on the fence, but I'm not sure much will convince me to jump off.
I've held out a LOOONG time not buying a DS, and being perfectly content with the decision.
It's getting more and more difficult lately w/ stuff like this on the horizon..
The Wii, hands down. And thank you to all the idiot consumers who bought all that Wii shovelware, now we'll just get more of it.
Let me respond by asking you this: Was Tetris too small a game to justify the purchase of a Gameboy? After all, it was just a simple puzzle game with very few modes, but it was addicting as hell.
It's not about the size of a game, it's how much you play it. (Sexual innuendo NOT intended!) I've put more hours into games like The Last Guy and PixelJunk Eden and Wipeout HD than I have many AAA titles like LittleBigPlanet and MGS4.
I got my money's worth by the time I'v...
...I'm also sick and tired of the Wii...
BUT - I think you're wrong about the PS3 not being a justified purchase. It may sound strange, but the high volume of unique downloadable titles are more than enough to warrant your PS3 purchase now.
Otherwise though, spot on arguments, great article.
I'm not a baseball fan, but I can't deny these screens look incredible.
Just to clarify, I understand why TGR wouldn't post downloadable titles...not part of the business model.
I'm just stating my case.
It's a shame the article excluded downloadable titles. Some of this year's shining examples of innovation, and just pure fun, were on XBL and PSN.
PixelJunk Eden, The Last Guy, Everyday shooter, Castle Crashers, Braid, Geometry Wars 2, the list goes on and on. MEGA MAN 9 for crying out loud!
Just one man's critical opinion...
The PS3 had more innovative titles, and took more chances, ESPECIALLY in the downloadable games department. Kudos to Sony for allowing their publishers to take risks.
The 360 definitely had a solid lineup as well. I call a tie.
100% compatible with the original Oblivion game saves. You're good to go.
"As for gaming in 2008, it wasn’t a bright year for unique and new titles."
REALLY? Mirror's Edge, L4D, LittleBigPlanet, Braid, PixelJunk Eden, Professor Layton, Audiosurf...All took chances and were very innovative.
that's just the tip of the iceberg, should I continue?
Yep Jimmy, I'd say it's getting damn near being a must-own at this point. you just can't find that much tech crammed into a box for the same price.
The Wii isn't even IN the same field to worry about competing, you know? So it's probably not a discussion worth pursuing.
Because we actually no much less about the 360 lineup in 2009.
If people keep talking about Mercs 2, I may have to at least rent it. STOP IT PEOPLE, I have enough to play :-)
