I would argue that brand new hardware is never worth the pricetag simply because it's priced to exploit early adopters. Then again, early adopters keep buying so.... :)
For everything the 3DS does, though, the price is actually incredible. Compare it to the iPhone when it first launched.
Hrm...from the description, that Magnet Gun sounds a *lot* like the grappling hook thing in Just Cause 2.
That pre-match/pre-spawn view is straight from Horde mode, from what I can tell. brilliant.
I don't think the author is bitching about it, just putting out a general PSA style message.
(plays Devil's advocate:)
But, Mass Effect was a critical darling and a blockbuster financial success.
And lo, a Bioware exec somewhere said "end of argument."
Reviewers who don't recognize narrative strength and mature writing probably shouldn't be reviewing games. Homefront has an excellent script and its multiplayer component boasts the scope of Battlefield with the fast-paced nature of CoD.
2/5 is way too harsh.
Then you didn't try it - at least not the multiplayer. Because the MP is actually very much like Battlefield.
This is probably the 5th review I've seen that broke the embargo, but Examiner is the biggest of the sites. Doubt THQ is going to like that.
Uhhh, did anyone catch his answer about Half Life Episode Three.......WOW!
Fanboyism typically is triggered by economic and financial restraints. When a person is stuck with only one console because they simple can't afford others, they subconsciously try to sabotage the competition so that their choice - the one they're stuck with - ends up the successful one meaning more games and more options for them.
That's a clever headline you've got there.
Forget about the 5 hour campaign, even though it's riveting and well narrated. Ignore the reviews and just know this: I've spent 6 hours with the Multiplayer, and it's worth the price of admission.
I just finished Homefront (not pirated, I'm a freelance writer) and it actually was a 5 hour campaign. That makes Gears 3 look like an epic.
Great retro review, definitely tickled my nostalgia. We need more stuff like this reminding us that games from a decade ago are still relevant, instead of this "2 week shelf like" mentality we have now.
The way I understand it, it's up to the community to approve/disapprove posts like this. I think it depends on the popularity/quality of the site, and also the hype of the game itself.
Seems like a simple, easy contest to me. They're not doing a scavenger hunt or mining for page hits.
Adding to how stupid a claim this is:
Super Mario Bros has sold 40.24 million.
Wii Play has sold 28.13 million.
New Super Mario Bros DS: 25.22 million
etc
etc.
Making people wait an extra year is one definite way to drive up demand. I'd personally like to see a multiplayer-only release, say for $30-40.
It pains me to have to agree with you, but with 3 separate studios working on MW3, i think the CoD crown is about to be crushed. Still, these are really solid suggestions.
It's called satire, dude.
Great review...now when can I buy it?
Ohhh yea...
