This is the one of the most sensible post I've seen so far. Microsoft is simply reacting to Sony lately. Not much can be done. There is a ton of things PS4 has going for it.
It doesn't matter if Microsoft does. Nobody is really paying much attention to what they do if you look at the sales.

That ship already sailed. It was out there a while ago. Microsoft didn't like it then and now it's too late. The competition at this point isn't going to try to give Microsoft a lifeline.

I think Microsoft loyalist really feel the sting more. Now Direct X12 mumbo jumbo means nothing. Sony will get another bump in power. It will. Probably have another awesome Ultra edition to sell everyone. Microsoft is kicking itself on virtual reality and Ultra console versions too now.

Sounds like jealousy. It's a brand new Ultra toy version of a system already out. Who doesn't like the Ultra version of toys if they can afford it. You know what else? If it succeeds it will drive the price down of the lower version PS4. Similar to TV evolutions do.
Nobody minds options. Virtual reality, PS4K, Indies. It's about to be ridiculous wealth for gamers.
Well too bad for devs. It's not like they have to work on any Nintendo games anyway. Now they have a really badass console potentially to play it's games on. I see no problems. It's just like PS4 Ultra. Who doesn't like a Ultra version or mega or super?
Depending on what kind of upgrade. If it's a really nice upgrade then yes. It's like getting a new phone that does more.
If it does great. A upgraded PS4. Awesome. Nobody has to buy it. I think I will. Plus virtual reality. If guys like these don't like cool new stuff then who cares? They don't have buy it.
They can't. It's optional. It's a luxury item that effects nobody but Microsoft. The only company they are screwing is Microsoft.

This is exactly that. A new shiny IPhone. They see this trend in phones. So nobody complains there about that. I see no problem. The problem is there are no problems left so the media tries to create one. When in actuality people are interested in this. It doesn't effect them though.
Yep I'll probably buy it too. It's no doubt a luxury item that nobody needs regardless if it does com out. It won't effect anyone who doesn't either.

Actually it is a choice. You just don't buy it and keep using the cheaper PS4. It really is that simple. What did writers and commenters all the sudden become mentally challenged? You literally don't have to buy it. It's just a cool option.
