There's a lot of revisionist history going on with god of war in games media. The series always had good storytelling, kratos has always been compelling, the games have always been critically acclaimed and they've always sold well.

I think the issue was that it was an arcade game at all. Dissidia and 012 were awesome and had an interesting story/campaign mode. NT is quite literally just a 3 on 3 multiplayer fighter and at that it's a lot less fun, there's less stuff to do etc.
Fans were clamouring for a dissidia game akin to the PSP games, not an arcade fighter.

That said, I mostly agree with you. Exceptions being Arenea and Gabranth. Their armor make it so you can't see the joints easily.
At first I thought "whoa, regardless of being a shitty person, he shouldn't permanently lose access to his games." But it's temporary so screw him. Although I would say Sony should ban him from online pay, not single player play.
