1080p at 40-50fps is a big win for PS4 that's not even including the differences that happens in some cases.

Am not disagreeing with you but there is one difference that doesn't make that comparison work. "Alternatives" There are no alternatives to PS games(excluding multiplats) so the only way you could play them was to have the hardware(or I guess PC to emulate).
Again like it's your choice to pick whether to stream a PS3 game with Playstation Now or to play it locally on hardware like you can choose to stream a movie on netfilx or watch it on your dvd/blu ray...
This is actual BC with local hardware emulation btw with added HD enhancements. Like DF puts it basically it's pcsx2 for PS4.

Have you played a few games at 60fps before? If not you may not notice it. I would have said the same thing some months ago but after playing warframe on pc at 45+FPS you can easy see it.
