If MS's BS policy continues then they will continue to mostly been on PC, coming to PS4 and Wii U or launch first on XB1 under a false timed exclusive thanks to this clause if they dont have the man power for a simultaneous launch.

No one really know at this point but I guessing even though all XB1's can be devkits that's not really a good idea if there's no access restrictions in place as it could give pirates the access they need for pirated games or it could cause some XB1 owners to misuse it and brick their console like the bug recently found that allows enables devkit mode but sends your console into a endless bootloop.
So iirc you still need an ID@Xbox account to really do anything onc...

Well apparently iirc DRM wasn't even in the box according to MS in the first place.

They dont control nvidia or amd in terms of their drivers and even though nvidia has good support for linux am unsure of how thier drivers perform in relation to windows in gaming. One problem with these benchmarks is that they are not real world tests in terms of game performance.
Also iirc the claims Value made were in relation to thier games they ported to linux not so much general performance but like ssj2 said this will improve in time with drivers.

Seeing as all the parts are off the shelf and the case being the only thing that is really custom it's safe to say no special hardware will be needed apart from getting a part with good linux driver support.
