I played the ghost beta and was terribly let down by the gameplay. its dated. felt clunky and slow and I'm not feeling the Gears button lay-out. just doesn't feel very fluid.
There also isn't anything unique about it. as I played it could have very well been socom or an older graw with a few new toys.

I did the exact same thing. Stepping back from your passion is hard but once you do you realize that most games are unfinished, buggy and set to be tweaked at release so why not wait for a cheaper price and a complete product.

I disagree. I don't care how good a game is you can only play it so many times before you've explored EVERY aspect of the single player portion.
At that point the game becomes a paper weight that you MIGHT play again many many moons later.
There are still gamers playing GTA4's MP to this day as well as RDR. Few people continue to play the same game years later strickly for it's campaign, imo.
