Are we still talking about online now? Because I do owned GT5, Resistance 1 and 2, Uncharted Series (Bought them, Why do I wait 2 years later and excited about digital download?), GOW, and more.
I am not even piss that I paid all Uncharted series, and PS+ members can downloaded for free, because you guys pay monthly for it and I didn't. But I paid full price for the game.
Yes, I do know things about PS+, Early beta, exclusive contents, etc.
Let me put this simple for you to understand. Last two years, I have been playing only BF3 and MoH Warfighters. If I have to pay to play online.
That would have been $120+ dollars for each game. $60 for each game and 2 years $120 PS+. I spent about 4 hrs week playing (Since I have a family).
That is why I bought PS3 instead of Xbox.
Yeah, I owned PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3.. None of xbox systems. PS3 maybe the last..

Because people like me, only play FPS and careless about small little free games . I pay $60 bucks for game that come with online play and expect me to pay $5 more to access online version of it!

DCU is Free to play MMO. As you play you pay for items or upgrades within the game.
But if you buy BF4 or COD for $60, you will have to pay $5 dollars a month to play online version of it.

Revenue has been down for a lot of tech companies. It called recession. Sony revenue has been down for the last 5 years. They should have start charging 5 years ago.
Are you new to console gaming? Every generation they are selling at a loss. But as generation get older. They will make money in games and console parts get cheaper.
As I remembered PS3 was selling at $300 dollar loss. Because blu-ray was so expensive at first. But now you can get blu-ray for really low price..
Financial struggle? They made 450+ million profit last quarter and expects 10% increase next quarter in profits. They are struggling alright.
@brodychet - Internet quality shall be upgraded? If I want quality fun online game. I will be paying my ISP for higher speed. Sony is only adding features. Some gamers will not use those features.

Darrius Cole said it best. Sony just took opportunity that M$ failed so bad out of the gate next generation. There is no real competition for Sony. They can do whatever they want now. So by starting to charge for only.
