I don't know.. Since smartphone came out, It killed handheld portable games. You don't play hardcore games on portable device, and you don't want to carry two devices everytime you get out of the house. Some kids will get Vita because they have money to, but most of them will play on their parents smartphone.
My nieces and nephews stop playing on their Nintedo DS and now spend most of their gaming on ipad or iphone. They only play on Nintendo DS on the long road ...

Not for free.. Just like Apple app store. You can buy games off the app store. If you Unreal Engine can make mobile iOS games.. why not for Android...
This console relies on indie developers at first. If they can create some cool games people want to play. Big Boys will jump in...

But I think Sony needs to spend money on marketing still. It is a step before people go to youtube to watch the trailer. M$ and Apple are doing an excellent job in marketing. Sony has been lacking this generation...
