This hasn't been the best gen in terms of creativity (mostly thanks to games finally becoming THE big money medium) but I'm old enough to remember playing games on cassette tapes and having to wait around for half an hour listening to the sound of a chicken being fed through a paper shredder before I could play so I don't jump quite so quickly to 'worst gen ever'.
I really don't like the fact that we can't mix and match apparel. One of the best things about Bethesda's games was taking a guy's hat as a trophy after you killed him and wearing it with your armor. I also don't like the fact that you don't choose a class at the beginning.
I'm not even too far into Oblivion at the moment but I chose a Breton who can turn invisible for 60 secs a day and I love feeling like I have this specific little superpower that I...
Why is it interesting on Halloween? What properties does that day have that other days don't that make the wearing of outlandish costumes fun and interesting??

I still need to pick up Valkyria chronicles at some point. I'm not much of a strategy gamer but I loved the demo and I can't really keep bitching about how there aren't enough games with a beautiful and original art style when I don't own that game.
I usually find these 'the place of girl gamers in today's gaming world' articles to be dumb reactionary bullshit but this was a fucking brilliantly written and insightful piece of work.
I just bought Oblivion earlier today but on PS3 so no beautiful new mod for me. I owned it once before on 360 but didn't play more than 2 or 3 hours as I wasn't into the whole 'fantasy' genre plus I came from Fallout 3 expecting it to look and play just as good.
Now I've got a craving for some good old fantasy genre fun and I've been playing a lot of much older games so I wont be as put off by the more primitive aspects of the game as I was when I went in...
I wouldn't have gone quite that high with the score but I'm certainly glad I picked this game up. It's nothing that sets your hair on fire on changes the way you see videogames but it's consistently enjoyable and atmospheric.
They took away my precious co-op arena?? I want to cry but I'm too busy cheering about getting my life back.
I've only played two games of it so far but I'm liking it a lot, I wish there were more sections like the plane section from the start of the airstrip map though and I wish the beta had a capture the flag mode because I usually hate deathmatch.
One thing though, forgive me if this sounds dumb but... aren't the graphics looking like a step down from UC2?? Don't hit that bubble down button yet, mr. nerdrage. I should mention that I know it's a multiplayer demo ...
I'm still amazed at how perfectly these guys captured Batman's fighting style with these games. It would have been so easy to give him a few punch and kick moves and make him fight like a boxer but they perfectly captured his freeflowing martial arts style. Even the sounds are perfect, the quiet sound of him grabbing an arm or leg flying at him and using the attacker's momentum to throw them or twist them into a hold. They just 'get' Batman right down to the core.
"Despite this, it is working exactly the way Anonymous wants it. Companies will think twice before crossing Anonymous (or the people) again.... "
Do we (the people) get a say in this? Do we the people get to decide who we feel is crossing us and what the best course of retaliation is?? Do we just sit back and let the Imams...sorry, I mean the OTV|||s .... sorry, I mean the glorious leaders decide what's best for us??
Just like every other pathet...
Metal gear solid 4 for me. Sorry, I know that's bad but the fucking melodrama and cheeseball characters are too much. I think it'd be easier if I could play it with the Japanese audio and subs, not that the voice acting is bad or anything, it'd just be easier to take the silly Japanese style characters like the doctor in her lingerie and lab coat if I could take them as characters from another culture.
Also, the stealth felt too open. The small bit of the first MG...
Completely agreed. I hate to leave games uncompleted but I just can't bring myself to finish that one.
FINALLY, a journalist unafraid to ask the big questions.
I guarantee history will give this game the same reputation as the first one, an overlooked gem.
You shouldn't let the score put you off. I wouldn't say the reviews are wrong to give it a low score, they're pretty much obligated to because the game is packed with weird little problems like some insanely blurry low res environmental textures, uneven sound levels during cutscenes and some iffy moments with the camera but if you're actually just looking to enjoy the game rather than technically review it it's an absolute blast.
It's my third most satisf...
This guy obviously has some connection to the group even if he's not a member. When they take one single person in a raid like this it's always as a means to get more information on their real targets. Lulszec should be scared.
It's been my game of the year since I completed the single player campaign, I just started the multiplayer campaign with a friend recently and in terms of puzzles it's even better than the single player. Not owning this game should be officially recognised as a mental illness.
Yep, I'm loving every minute of it so far. It's certainly not the most polished or varied game out there but it's got imagination up the kaboose. The port of the first game is great too, it looks fantastic and is just as imaginative but jeeeez, games didn't screw around back then in terms of difficulty.
I'm trying not to play too much so I don't burn myself out on it before the full game is released but man it's so damn hard to resist.
