Joker454 (17-Feb-2009, 11:17):
"SF4 though has particle effects that like to linger around on screen, so they can't take the low res route on those because it would look really bad. During an SF4 zoom in sequence, the transparent particles could result in many screen amounts of overdraw, which RSX would struggle to maintain at 60fps. That might be why they drop main render rez on a zoom."

It's set to Limited by default (and doesn't auto-switch) since Sony assumed that most people would be gaming on TVs, and most TVs are expecting a "limited" level signal.

I, personally, like the supposed "input lag." When I played it, I immediately sensed a weight to the character, and while the iron sights is slightly more sensitive than I'm used to, sensitivity during play at 50% is perfect for me. It really sets it apart from the more arcade-like shooters (e.g. COD4,5 Resistance 2) and feels unique.

Also, for the first few minutes of my playthrough I had the controller on Alternate 2, but I soon found out the Alternate 2 didn't feel ...

From what I can tell, the trailer is a mix of CGI and in-game. The In-game portion begins when you see the red-haired girl in the jacket with the crowd of people (0:41), then it switches back to CGI when the planes are doing their tricks in the air (0:56). When you see the shot with the shooting gun (1:04) it's in-game again, and it remains in-game until the guy in the long jacket stands (2:14) where it's CGI until the end of the trailer.

It looks pretty good in my opinion.

From the Sony PS3 Manual:
"Limited RGB output signal is output in the range from 16 to 235.
Full RGB output signal is output in the range from 0 to 255."

TVs that play videos display 16 - 235. That's why "[s]tandard definition DVDs, Blu-ray discs and HD signals are all YCbCr 16-235 range native"

I advise readers to read over #2, 3, and 4 in "—If you have a HD-TV —" carefully, because it's specific to only a few displays.

Super-White will only work on TVs compatible with the function.

Also, RGB Full does NOT "add sharpness and make colors more vibrant." RGB Full is for use mainly on PC Monitors as RGB Full means PC Level signal while RGB Limited means Video Level signal. The use of RGB Full on a TV that expects a video level signal (i.e. a...

Too bad some developers believe that gamers are anti-social people, whose only contact with others are online where actual contact never occurs.

I miss the old days when people could sit side-by-side and play. Gamers (or at least some of them) actually have friends to enjoy videogames with, which is why I mourn the loss of co-op and splitscreen games.

For me, Motorstorm 2, and CoD:WaW was extremely fun, along with Resistance: Fall of Man -- offline multiplayer with ...

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay was a pretty good game; better than the movie if I dare say so myself.

Busta Rhymes had said, before the clip was premiered, "All in-engine!" so that "should" be good enough.

The only reason it was well written is because the article is Gamespot's -- just copy and pasted.

Word for word. Well, at least the word about how awesome Killzone 2 seems to be is spreading.

Since the author couldn't dump more than 16MB, wouldn't the chip have 128Mb not 128 MB? Since 128Mb = 16MB, which is what the author says is in the chip. That would mean that before, the PS3 had 2x 32MB flash chips before, but now it has 1x 16MB which it uses when flashing firmware along with the HDD.

Too brown? Too brown?! Has he not seen the videos of Resistance 2, or has he confused it with Resistance 1?

Another game where objects can affect the water, not the other way around.

I mean, look at Crysis, if you explode a barrel in water, the water doesn`t move when the barrel explodes. It`s just a simple particle and texture.

With games like Halo 3, Kameo, Uncharted, and now Resistance 2, things can affect the way the water moves.

I don`t see how people say that Bioshock (console versions) and Crysis have the best water though, because while they have th...

Uncharted's cutscenes were mostly prerendered. However, it was only some lighting and shadows that were touched up. Everything else including the models were the same in both the game and cutscenes.

The DVD for a PC can be compressed a lot because it when it`s installed onto the PC, it is decompressed onto the hard drive. It doesn`t stream nor read off of the disk like a console.
