I would say that Destiny has already gathered a ton of hype, and judging by Sony's decision to close their conference with it, Sony thought it was a big deal too. Also considering Bungie's clout and success in the industry, I'd say its pretty fair that it's a bigger deal than Infamous or Drive Club. This is my impression, but feel free to disagree with me.
The PS4's power will make games look better, but will this power be enough to make gamers spend 400...
Is this seriously a spec analysis based on consoles that haven't been released yet and assuming absolutely no specialization?
I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
Thanks for actually reading the article past the title :) Lol. I appreciate it.
Just so people know... this article really was more about the overall direction of Nintendo and Sony in terms of software development rather than anything about PSASBR in particular. I just thought PSASBR and Smash based on their rosters are good representations of these differing philosophies.
Eh, before you get too hyped, keep in mind that this was somewhat expected. The holiday season is the biggest part of the year for Nintendo, and, unlike last year, they weren't taking a hit on each 3DS sold. Overall, the news was kind of mixed. The 3DS is doing fairly well, but still not as well as Nintendo projected. The Wii U is also below projections.
In a nutshell, the company is making money, which is good, but the fact that sales aren't meeting expectations ...
No. No no no no no no. Nintendo is not planning a 200 million dollar loss, regardless of what Kotaku posted. Nintendo is planning to have a $200 million dollar OPERATING LOSS. This is NOT the same thing as a NET LOSS. Nintendo is actually expecting a NET PROFIT of 153 million dollars.
But hey, don't take my word for it. How about instead of blindly accepting anything you read from an article that gets blindly reposted as fact, you take the time to look at the data a...
This article is wrong. Nintendo posted an operating loss ytd, but that is because of the hit they took in q1 and q2. Nintendo actually posted a net profit of160 million. They benefited g greatly from the weakening yen.
Best thing to do in that case is not click on it. The title is not very ambiguous, and it lets you know exactly what you're in for when you click. If it's something that you're not interested in, the best thing you can do is ignore it and not draw further attention.
People have been comparing the X-Box 360 and PS3 to the Wii U since it came out. I wasn't the first and I won't be the last, and apparently it's a topic that people are somewhat interested in.
Yeah. That one's my bad. Really no excuse for that besides I messed up.
It's not confirmed to be a direct sequel, but the battle system is clearly very similar. We also have a brief shot of what looks like Shulk.
You missed some. Mega Man Legends 1/2, Misadventures of Tron Bonne, Mega Man Soccer, Battle and Chase, EXE Network Transmission, Mega Man and Bass, Battle Chip Challenge................
That was part of the problem, yes. Capcom definitely went over the board for a while. Generally they stuck with one incarnation of Mega Man, then run it dry.
Noone is asking for Capcom to make games at the same pace they used to, but wouldn't it be great if they made l...
Skyward Sword fulfilled my need for a colorful stylized Zelda, even if it wasn't exactly the same as Wind Waker. I'd prefer a more realistic Zelda like the demo showed.
You're definitely right on that one. All launch periods have a dry period after launch, and we ALWAYS act like it's some sort of surprise. The same thing is going to happen with the X-Bo 720 and PS4, and again we're going to be taken aback. We have a habit of getting overhyped and then being disappointed by reality.
The Wii U is different for a couple of reasons though. First off, the launch lineup was fairly weak. The Wii U is an interesting concept that cou...
Cloud in a dress certainly could be done in modern graphics, but I don't think it would work nearly as well. HD Cloud in drag is just... weird... But, the graphics (and technology in general) do affect things in more ways that I really didn't get into. Take for instance the play in the Golden Saucer. If they wanted to do this in HD, that means a ton of new and expensive assets to create, voice work to be done, models, and so on. HD and realism really do tie their hands a bit.
Glad to see games like Solatorobo, Astroy Boy, Killer 7, Ghost Trick, and Skies of Arcadia getting their due. Also happy to see Mega Man 2 so high up there.
If you want to sit here, nitpick, and complain that your favorite game isn't on the list/not high enough. As for me, I just had fun looking through the list and remembering some old favorites.
The problem with marketing the move towards multiple demographics is a matter of resources. The Move was up against the Wii which had an established library of quality games, and the Kinect which was more interesting technology, although not as good for gaming. Sony was going to need several HUGE titles to convince people to invest in their motion control solution over the cheaper Wii and the more novel Kinect.
At the same time, hardcore gamers were skeptical of the motion ...
I'm not sure where you're getting that particular figure from. The PS2 launched in March of 2000, and it hit the 10.6 million you're referencing at the fiscal year ending in March 2001. That's in four quarters plus an extra month, not six quarters.
PLUS the PS2 didn't launch in the US until October of 2000 and it didn't launch in Europe until November 2000. Those first two quarters of the four were ONLY Japanese launch numbers. The PS3 had a simul...
You're saying the Move was targeted towards a different audience, but was that audience interested in motion control gaming? Did move support help sales for Resistance 3, Infamous 2, or Little Big Planet 2 sell more than their predecessors? Did Sports Champions and Sorcery sell well at all? What market can you legitimately say the move appealed to? What move games have been successful?
It's not that I don't understand the thinking and strategy behind any of th...
Don't make the faulty assumption that the population of N4G and other devoted gaming sites represent the general gaming population. Remember that about half of the PS3's sales came from 2010 on, so these people haven't had a PS3 for 7 years, but 3. There are plenty of people who will happily go on for another 3-4 years simply buying the next COD or Madden.
Even for those of us who are bored with the current generation, that doesn't mean we'll instantly j...
