Indeed, but the problem is that journalistic integrity and intellectual honesty are both optional requirements for people. Most of the time, reviewers are doing it to get paid, not cause they care about the game or fanbase. Sometimes, you're asked to review a game from a series you don't like or a genre you don't enjoy. Objective reviews are hard because people will always inject some bias behind their decisions. Also, people seem to respond more when someone is either passionatel...

This is moot. Reviews are all opinions, be them critic or fan reviews. What matters is your own experience. Placing your purchase based on a review is no one's fault other than your own/

This is gaming now bro. It's not about game design or quality or aesthetics. It's about resolution and frames per second, and whether it represents all minority groups and has 'strong female characters' in it and no 'straight white males'. Sad thing is, no one ever said we didn't want more female characters, yet that's what the rhetoric seems to be saying now.

In fact, what annoys me is that they're adding female characters to their games just because, not as a gimmick. Yet articles like this highlight it as a gimmick, and the gender topic starts all over again. FFS, this bs about gender equality and representation is stupid because it assumes that adding more female characters somehow helps all women, because CLEAAAAAAAAAARLY all female gamers are the same and want the same thing. Because CLEAAAAAAAAAARLY women can't enjoy something unless...

Having female characters in fighting games is nothing new. Not every decision has to be about gender politics. Seriously ¬_¬

While I do agree that the favoring of Sony has reached unfair levels, and I admit it's kind of like the shoe on the other foot in some cases, I don't agree that two wrongs make a right. That is, if we're referring to the staggered COD DLC releases. Because even then, COD DLC was staggered by about a month, not several months. Also, PS3 and PC would get exactly what 360 got in the end anyway. I don't think that this is some sort of karmic revenge for Sony console owners to say ...

However, it's funny how after BF3, the BF series' public opinion has been in a downward spiral, and Hardline is getting the brunt of it. Not that public opinion means anything for game development, but this year, more than ever, public opinion has a habit of controlling narrative. And that narrative tends to worry game devs more than sales figures ever will. I too admit that BF should not be doing as badly as it is right now, but I'd rather just choose not to play the game than fu...

I'd be lying if I said that I'm happy with the state of Battlefield. I'd be lying if I said that I'm happy with BF4 for 360. I'd even be lying if I said I'm happy with BF3 for 360, even though that's a more stable game. But the honest truth is: I don't have to take it. If I don't enjoy a BF game, I won't play it. I know there's loads of people who love and enjoy it and I think they have all the right to. People have been praising Hardline's beta...

While it's perfectly fine that there's a decent amount of female characters, why has it reached the point where developers need to give people a count of the amount of female characters in a game? Is this seriously how things are going lately? As if the amount of female characters in a game determines its relevance. Just saying, this political correctness is getting out of control, where people are more concerned with 'representation' than how good a game is. Don't get me ...

Why can't Link be a magical garment girl? (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ

So female gamers can feel more included? This just in guys: women can't enjoy something unless there's women in it! Didn't you know? Women don't play action games, puzzle games or strategy games cause there's no female characters. Representation everybody, it's the ONLY reason a woman will play something ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Sarcasm aside, gender has nothing to do with gameplay. A female Link means absolutely nothing and whether or not someone appreci...

I'll admit that some of those X Rays and Fatalities are hella nasty. Way more gruesome than even MK9. However, to say that it's too much is subjective. If you're ok with it, then why not. If you don't like it, don't play it. That's simple enough right?

And so continues the paradigm of political correctness instead of creative freedom. At least they made a concrete PR response, or else people would never let it go

Thanks for reading everyone. My list isn't definitive and it's only from my experience. I decided to list characters based on legacy, characters who've been in several games over a great span of years. It's not meant to be 'the best' characters necessarily and it's why I asked everyone what characters they liked. Personally, I'm tired of all the negativity regarding female characters and I want us to celebrate them and hope for more interesting ones in the futu...

¬_¬ Y'know what bothers me? I thought, I legitimately thought, that this article would be a decent look at some of the cool female characters coming to Nintendo games. But no. It's more social justice bs. It's more 'oh look at the white male dominated gaming sphere' bs.

Why. All these assumptions and assertions and all these constant controversies. Over something so simple. What is the end game? Will people not rest until there's always fema...

Exactly, couldn't have said it better myself. People need to stop looking at things in absolutes. For all their talk of 'maturity', they don't seem to have any when it comes to dealing with stuff like this. Maturity also means knowing when to leave things alone and having the integrity to know that it doesn't affect anything.

And also, can I just say; how will this magazine's success push the industry back? Let's say a couple hundred people buy this magazine and do what they want with it; how does that affect the maturity of the industry and gamers as a whole? So some people like trashy stuff, big whoop. I've never understood this idea that some people liking questionable stuff affects everybody. Sure it's not a good look for people on the outside, but honestly, every industry has stupid trashy stu...

Yeah, like incendy35 said, stop giving this attention. If you just ignore this stupidity and move on it won't be as important as people are making it. Let it fade away and disappear as we talk about actual games and industry stuff. By writing even more articles about it and letting it get bigger, you're making it more infamous that it needed to be. There's so much to talk about even just today; The Division getting delayed, Halo 5 announcement, Xbox One's lack of Kinect etc. S...
