For anyone wondering, DDR and GDDR are 2 different types of hardware.
Granted, they are both a part of hardware, but G stands for Graphics.
DDR stands for Double Data Rate, and applies to processes other than just graphics.
So, if anyone was thinking, "wait, they went DDR3 to GDDR5 to... DDR4??"
That is because the number is representative of the evolution of that piece of tech.

That's only relevant to 3D rendering, requires very high bandwidth video memory (much higher than the X1's memory bandwidth, such as 2GB GDDR5 high end pc cards), and has nothing to do with accelerating the GPU.
That has to do with software not hardware. I'm not saying there aren't tricks to optimize game code, I'm saying there is no secret trick akin to "accelerating a gpu".

"GPU acceleration" doesn't exist.
1) It would make the console hotter
2) It would make the console louder
3) Both consoles are designed for a specific temperature and power consumption. They will not 'boost', they might 'fluctuate' between rested and strained, but they will not surpass their intended outputs
4) They run the GPU at it's highest acceptable output at all time...
