No. It's PART of the same thing. What the rumor is talking about is slicing off the easiest part of remote play and doing that.
This is literally the easiest computer language trick, you literally just isolate the gamepad API to say "listen for the wireless signal from a dualshock 4 (in this case, a vita instead)" and boom.
Remote play is built on the same fundamentals, but adds a compressed video to be beamed to the vita display too. I guess wh...

It's probably safe to assume VITA's alive and healthy where I live if I can bump into at least one VITA user per every block. ^^
VITA/PS4 remote play is new. The previous remote play was okay, but the new console hardware and software is built from the ground up to support that for VITA.
