You make sense, however there are people who might have just purchased a new TV, and are interested in a new blu ray player. The sales guy says, oh if you want to upgrade that, let me show you our line of uhd blu ray players. The customer sees them and says wait a minute! Is that a ps4/xbox as well? My child will flip knowing that one purchase covers everybody!
For me, I've had a 4k tv for quite a while. I've been wanting a uhd player ever since. I have an Xbox one. I'll...
Wasn't this article written just a couple of months ago about the Xbox S? It really must not be hard to create a gaming website and create pointless articles just to justify your existence.
Look, if they build it people will buy it. Goes for anything in this world. Shoes, tech, cars, etc. not everyone will want one, not everyone could use one, not everyone can buy one. For those people willing to depart with their money for anything, that's up to them. No need to judge or bas...
Yet somehow neither look as good as the demo video from yesterday.
The Sony 4K channel on my Sony tv has streaming, purchases are 20-30 there too. At least with a disc I get the best picture possible, and lossless audio. Oh and with that 25 bucks I spend on the disc version I get the blu Ray, sometimes a 3D blu Ray, and a digital copy along with the uhd.
I saw that too on like ign or something.
Very lazy remaster.
And in other news the sun rose today!
I see what you're saying, and to an extent I agree. Vr needs to be more than a view-master like experience, just a screen on your face. With proper full body tracking in environment, it will be awesome. I haven't tried Vive or Oculus, but my demo with Psvr was not any better than my phone and the gear vr.
Economical to watch my friends and family experience this is just the way I like it!
Oh how fun!? Can they be used in instant action mode? If not, we'll thanks anyway.
Exactly. I've been wanting a uhd blu ray player for a while. Although the 399 samsung and the upcoming 699 panasonic standalone players may have a slightly better image, This alone is enough to justify swapping out my current day one edition. Yes the Xbox doesn't support the newest hd soundtracks, but it has the ability to use the *old* ones and that's enough for the average person.
All but one of the negatives mentioned are useless to the new console. They mentioned that the Blu-ray player wasn't as awesome in picture quality as the double priced standalone Panasonic. Well there's a shock. That's important to some, but not most prospective buyers. After griping about the batteries in the controller, the rest wasn't even about the Xbox s, but about ps4 vs xbox.
No atmos, but dts hd is enough for a lot of people.
This couldn't have been the day 1 console, nor could the neo. 4k tvs took off way faster than anyone anticipated, and there was not a 4k blu ray player anywhere to be had when the ps4 and xbox one consoles launched, and mind you there is still only ONE standalone available in the u.s. 4k gaming or not, The value of the new Xbox and the upcoming ps4 is there, whether people want to admit/see it or not.
Right. I'm sooooo pissed I'm typing on my note 5 now, and they're releasing a note 7 In a couple of weeks! How dare they!
@kingdomcome
Just the quality of the uhd playback of the s. I'm sure it is more than capable, but I wonder how the picture and sound stack up to a standalone player. I have a very discerning eye, yet haven't picked up a standalone player. I was waiting for the Panasonic uhd player but it is still missing in the u.s. Oh well, they waited too long! I'm getting the gears s, but any early impressions are always welcome!
You better come back and tell us how it was!
I too had that happen. They say 4K pass through, then all of a sudden I hear about hdcp 2.2, which isn't in my two year old , 1 grand msrp receiver. However, you could always run separate audio to the receiver and send the picture to the tv. A handful of blu Ray players have two hdmi outputs, as do the uhd blu Ray players, except the Xbox.
Indeed. Some better start doing their homework on their existing equipment before being disappointed. And then of course they'll blame Microsoft.
Not to mention streaming is OK, but what about when those licenses expire? No more movies unless you have the physical media. I would have liked to upgrade my ps4 because I was going to purchase a uhd player anyway. I wonder if Sony has an upcoming standalone uhd player coming out. Would make more sense not to include one in the pro. Oh well. It is what it is.
