Well it is basically a demo impression which is fairly newsworthy.

It's a bit misleading when the developers say that. It may be using 100% of the CPU, but that doesn't equate to getting the best possible graphics out of it. Killzone 2 is probably much more optimised than Uncharted 2, which allows it to get comparable graphics with only 60% of the cpu.

"make it ok to play FPS shooters on a console"

-No, goldeneye did that. Halo did REFINE a lot ideas that were revolutionary in other games and put them together into something a bit more accessible. It was not revolutionary itself, just in the same way that COD4, while being a very good game is not revolutionary either.

But those count for such a small proportion of sales compared to the casual nintendo exclusives, that any comparison is pointless.

bubbles for you khellendros.

It's easy for us consumers to say drop the price, but it has to be a business decision in the interest of making a profit, not winning some fanboy console war. I'm sure Sony want to be able to drop the price to ensure the long term viability of their console, but if that has to wait a few more months until it is profitable then so be it. Right now they are tracking well against the 360 with the launches aligned, so there isn't a huge deal to worry abo...

In your comparison of total debt, you fail to mention total assets. Microsoft is a software company and doesn't have much in the way of assets. Sony is an electronics manufacturer and has to make larger investments, and more assets....which balance out the levels of debt.
As well as this, it is the previously poor electronics devision that is most likely responsible for all those debts.

Obviously it's an early video showing the intended direction of the game rather than any progress that they made. It looks like it had potential to be a decent game and would be a shame if they don't go back to it in some form or another after freeing up some developers from home.

lol, yeah sony bailed out on their own console, its just that much of a failure

Edit: /sarcasm
sort of defeats the purpose by adding that in :(

You can't upload music to the game.....but from memory, it only used the ingame music.

The only thing that is questionable is the use of red paint as blood stains done in a fairly tame way. But in the e-mail the creator sent, he mentions it is no worse than MM's own story levels.

@piratethom
this is the e-mail he sent:

"Hey,

I apologize if I come off a little rude here, but what in God's green earth did I have in my stage that vi...

Yes the maker of the level has posted on several forums complaining about his level being deleted and getting a message after that it has been moderated. He has the level on his moon still, but isn't republishing until an explanation.

It may be an automatic process that levels are taken down after being reported to be reviewed.

Even more concerning was that the World Of Colour level was moderated as well....and that was featured by MM themselves, including an interv...

Wrong. Variety gives scores to metacritic, but doesn't publish them on their own site. The metacritic games editor even commented on n4g saying this - they don't assign scores for game reviews.

6443d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Isn't the gamesradar review written by a guy from PSM3, which they have included?
The others are pretty random review sites, compared to Variety which has a bit better reputation than some of those. I think they generally pick sites they are going to use in a general sense rather than pick what reviews they want to use for certain games.

6453d ago 1 agree3 disagreeView comment

That review was pretty negative though....the score actually seemed better than the review.

6453d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Don't they already take the same sites for each game, not including ps3 and xbox publications. It seems like they just include more reviews from lower weighted sites for high profile games, and stick to the 10-15 most reliable for lower profile games.

6453d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Thing is though, metacritic did NOT make up that score.

And (this coming from a ps3/lbp fan) you can't honestly say that review was any more positive than an 80. In fact, if you were going by the review text alone, the review sounds more like 60-70. They completely ignored all the good parts of the game and it sounded more like one of those nega-reviews.

6453d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Did you even read what he said? Variety give metacritic these scores but don't publish them on their own site. Variety assigned the scores of 80 for LBP and 98 for Fable 2, not metacritic.

@Marc Doyle
Good post, that clears a lot of things up. Shame that everyone seems to continue ignoring it. It's good to know that you take the experience of the reviewer and not just the organisation into account.

What I would like to know are what factors they use to give we...

Later on in the article they straight out state the release date:

"Sony's "Home" virtual world for the Playstation 3 will be released on November 19th, after its delay twice already. It will go up against Microsoft's Xbox 360 "New Xbox Experience"."

No source mentioned at all for this claim, although they do quote a Sony rep for the 24 companies supported home.

However, I'm pretty sure that this sounds like a reasonable rele...

Yeah, I think with the latest info about Resistance 2 it has stepped up to compete on an even level with Gears of War 2. It may not have quite as many sales, but in the areas of hype and quality should be about the same.
I can see LBP completely overshadowing fable II with all this hype that is being built up.

If there was no price drop on the 360, Sony would have pretty much all the momentum, with only GeoW2 propping up the Xbox...but I'd put it at a bit of an edge to Son...

They say that all the levels made at the event will be included on a parsons planet in the final game.

What sounds really exciting is that Parsons are starting a game design class using LBP....so even more awesome levels :D

6480d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Another factor, at least early on in the cycle is that hardly any people actually had ps3's at the higher price point. So spending a lot of money on advertising would probably not have resulted in much increase in sales.

I'd hope that is turned around now as the ps3 sales have picked up and it is a much more attactive purchase: as the price has dropped from the high $600 level, the PSN has improved to the point of being only marginally worse than XBL and the difference in game l...
