Does anyone actually take Maxim's game reviews seriously?
This will most definitely be a good game, but overhyping anything usually makes us appreciate something less when it finally arrives.
If there weren't sequels, gamers wouldn't be able to enjoy the game worlds they'd grown to love anymore. Also games would likely come out with similar concepts but while not being called sequels would be exactly like them.
I would say we're drowning in FPS games, or shooters in general. And I won't even mention the Wii and its mountain of crap.
Not to me. I still enjoy my PS2 games in standard definition just fine, despite having an HDTV and PS3 and 360. The graphics are nicer but its not a drastically different experience.

Realism in fantasy settings e.g. Oblivion is absolutely awesome. The upcoming FFXIII also looks like it has a stunning level of realism. The more realistic the graphics the more immersed someone becomes in the game.
As for real life actions being replicated in a game, leave that stuff out please.
Maybe the PS3 is more difficult to program for? Some developers have already mentioned that so it could be true.
Brand recognition. Nobody knew about Okami thus very few people bought it. As for Nintendo, they abandoned the hardcore crowd a long time ago.
How do these articles enlighten the game community in any way? All they do is spark flame wars. I feel the same way about all those articles saying the death of the PS3 was nigh. I'm ****ing sick of this whiny bs.
The mods need to grow some integrity and not approve this worthless trash. And anyone who says Kotaku sucks because it posts incendiary arguments, need look no further than N4G.
My argument wasn't about bluray, I was likening the Ps3 to betamax in cost and superiority. I fully expect bluray to succeed as long as disc-based media remains viable.
And for the record, I don't expect the PS3 to die, I just don't think it will sell nearly as well as the PS2 due to my stated reasons above.
I wouldn't say that Sony is being too artsy with the Ps3, they're simply being too exclusive. I liken it somewhat to the Betamax, VHS format war.

Casual gaming is like fast-food franchises. I say this because the casual game boom seems similar to the fast food explosion over the last 50 years. Casual games aren't saving the video game industry they're simply making it more bloated and over-saturated.

To say that nothing is coming to the 360 this year is complete ignorance. Granted the exclusives are looking a bit anemic, but if you happen to like games there is a plethora of gaming goodness coming for all platforms in the guise of multi-platform titles. Many of these mulitplats are former exclusives, so the quality should be high.
Its been many years my friend, and no GT5Prologue doesn't count.

If a separate studio was tasked with creating the mmo world and a new offline single-player is still in the works, this sounds like a great idea. Exploring the entire continent of Tamriel would be awesome, and there is already a great selection of races and classes. Expansions could include Akavir and the northern continent. The main problem would be in supporting a large area while keeping the graphics consistent with Oblivion's.
