It is sad because while the main character and setting was disappointing, the thing that was most disappointing was the lack of ingenuity. This is where they shine. So, Yeah, customization and an open world r good and over owners should get their ISO view etc, but I want them to focus on pushing the genre forward, not looking back all the time. Though, my suggestion would be unique multi interaction and endgame content with replay value.

I agree but my issue isn't finding games, it's finding time. This is the first time I have ever stopped pre ordering or buying at launch. Skyrim, KoA, the wither 2, ME3 and Dragons Dogma have taken up all of 10 months. I love DD. I haunt finished Batman or KoA, and I would love to play Max Payne and darksiders. And journey and a few other downloadable look awesome.

I think both are needed. One reason that mass effect and especially the1st are so great is that it has both. Uncharted is spectacle, elder scrolls is beautiful and open but not all spectacle. I do agree that open world's with freedom do have a much higher replayability and we have seen spectacle games add multi to their games to increase the time and money spent on their product.

Good review. And while it may seem strange that they simply gave it a coat of paint, my thought is that they wanted to get this to consoles. This may seem "activation" like, but it is valve, so this will benefit pc players too because we all know how valve loves to forgo new ips to support existing titles. Let's start with a good final fantasy. FFXV would be a great launch for next Gen to show off the luminous engine. Just take a look at dragons dogma to get an idea. A big open world that has a semi linear story with progressively more difficult enemies and slot of endgame content and loot. Bring back flying ships and different lands to travel to. How hard could it be to make a great final fantasy? Not the actual tech, but the gaming element. Imagine what u could do next Gen.
Am I the only one that thinks the bids show a game almost identical to the last one, including multiplayer. This isn't bad as I really liked it but it's getting good reviews where the last one got fairly average ones. Maybe I am wrong or my memory is bad but 1 multi map even looked identical.
I remember reading somewhere why the dark matter wasn't used. I think it's because they were worried that it was never mentioned before (not much) and that it would feel like a cop out. Personally, I feel as though it would have come across as the key to everything and the reasoning we have all been looking for.
