I care about it because it was a big selling point of Home for me, and from the looks of many of the Playstation forums around the internets, I'm not alone in that sentiment. 1. FFXIII wasn't the game it was before it went multiplatform. People fear that Versus will suffer the same fate if it is announced (and there is legit reason to believe such).

It was MS's fault because SE really, REALLY wanted to make the game fit on just three DVD9 discs and cut and compress stuff so that could happen. This didn't happen until AFTER (AFTER!) the multiplatform announcement. We didn't hear anything about the no towns, linear gameplay, or the whole thing about things being cut from the game until after the shoulder tap.
It's SE's fault, though, for allowing themselves to get into bed with MS to begin with.
