It could come to PS4 just under a different name.
When Microsoft has exclusive deals it's greed. When Sony has exclusive deals they are doing everyone a favor. Also, apparently Sony doesn't spend a dime on exclusives, the companies making these games just love Sony that much that they do it out of the kindness of their heart.
The game for sure looks very good but the majority of people that rate the game high all seem to say a common thing and that's that apparently people that reviewed it as average or lower just didn't understand the developers vision. With that said, it reminds me quite a bit of a handful of 1st party titles early in PS3's cycle that had good production value but didn't add up to much overall. Another title that I would compare it to that was highly anticipated and sold well is ...
Shenmue isn't 100% QTE for one, and for two Shenmue had QTE when QTE was actually a new thing. The term "Quick-time event" was created from Shenmue. I just think people would have thought gameplay could have evolved in the past 17 years since Shenmue came out and apparently it just got worse in the name of pretty visuals instead of evolving along with them.
This is a common misconception. A lot of the classic Rare team had left even before joining MS. At any rate I'm not holding my breath but I still play TiP to this day, and have ruled VP 360, PC, and even played the party animals game lol
This would be a nonstarter for Sony and Sega. Sony can't afford SEGA/SAMMY as the company is worth 13% of what Sony is worth, Sony is going through a long drawn out restructuring, and the company as a whole is still losing money. Why would they make their one very profitable department have an unprofitable year (or less profit at least) by being offset from buying out a company that is largely a shadow of its former self? Not to mention the companies strong ties to Nintendo. Then on top o...
I keep hearing online that 343 "ruined" Halo but that doesn't actually seem to translate well in real life. Halo 4 was a great game and on 360 specifically you can go online to this day and find at least 5000 people playing it at any given moment. Not a lot of titles on any last gen system could say the same thing besides the latest Madden or CoD let alone a game that is over two years old. The same people that say they ruined it are usually the same people that complained that ...
Jesus christ how did any of you even read that article? The entire site was 10 ads per page with about 2 paragraphs worth of content per page and there was like 10 pages. Anyways I think saying one or the other has the better lineup game wise right now is a bit premature but one thing is for sure, Halo 5 is Microsoft's big thing and Uncharted 4 is Sony's big thing for the year and both are sure to be good.
I think you also need to look at the gaming journalist industry as a whole, the overall industry is shrinking. A friend of mine had his website bought by IGN years ago when News Corp was the parent company and then around the time I was interviewed for a job to be an associate editor at IGN, they were laying people off and shutting down a lot of stuff they had bought because they just didn't have the budget anymore. Since that time a lot of print mags shut down, and they began to hire peo...
So it's poor form for IGN not to source, but it's ok for you to post emails you had between them to prove your point? I'm not really disagreeing with you, as when I had my own site had Gamespot or Kotaku not sourced me it got on my nerves, but I never particularly called them out on it either. If you want to call out IGN, actually meet the guys that work there. That's always fun. :-)
Do any of you read though?
I couldn't agree more. It was a smart move putting Kaz in charge and the PlayStation 4 pretty much remedied all of the technical mistakes the PS3 made during it's early days. Yeah I prefer the Xbox, but no one can deny that Naughty Dog is the best 1st party developer out there, no one can deny that the PS4 was better engineered than the Xbox One despite using similar components and vendors and if Sony can beat one big company at hardware, then with a little pinache and urgency they sh...
I'll just address one by one:
@DarkAstronaut I'm not sure I really follow you. Microsoft runs the Xbox in separate divisions that for better or worse, work together with the OS divisions. All of their business are very much intertwined. The PlayStation brand good on it's own has been doing everything to distance from, and therefore tarnish further the once great brand of Sony as a whole throwing it a bone here and there. Does anyone else remember when Sony was the...
It's always funny when someone ends their post with "Stay Classy" because they're typically the most distasteful. At any rate, the write-up specifically makes parallels to Wired Magazine's "Pray" article from 1997 while at the same time parodying the imagery of the cover. Sony as a whole is hemorrhaging money right now. If you actually read it, it specifically gives points on where Sony does well, and what they could probably do in their restructuring efforts t...
Just another Sony Pony more interested in the pixel density than the actual gameplay and features. Maybe you will get another Sony racing game that gets delayed several years, that has several touted features that get taken out at the last minute, and mean while Forza will continue to be a great series.
Nothing this guy ever says actually checks out. Most of it is educated guesses. Arne Meyer from Naughty Dog also says this guy is full of shit. There isn't any way he would have knowledge of any of this without being in either industry before and he never was. He's just some shitty NeoGAF user.
Ultimately, Forza Motorsport was initially billed as a simulator to top the "other guys" i.e. GT and it in fact has plenty times over. No one is going to buy another game over Forza simply because of all the options and the community around it.
The average Xbox gamer spends 10 hours a week playing games. The average PlayStation gamer spends 2 hours a week playing games. The other 8 they spend online bitching about Xbox and talking about how much better PlayStation is.
I expect this game to be meh. I've thought it was a solid series but never understood it's popularity other than its "realer" compared to many other mainstream FPS titles. Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk's recent "successes" come to mind.
Console exclusives don't particularly matter anymore. If you look at the top 10 selling titles on PS4, none of them are exclusive to the platform and only one is exclusive to Xbox One, and the top 5 can be bought on PC and older systems as well. The problem the new systems actually have is that there are new systems. They should be turned into services that you can use on a box of your choosing like Hulu and Netflix, not entire eco systems you buy into that can run your start-up cost upwa...
