I don't know about PS4, but on PC the game is pretty alive. Never had any problem joining a match. I often see people streaming R6 siege matches so I guess you shouldn't have any problems.
It is an amazing game, but I remember how big and deep was R6 Vegas 2 with full of customization, modes, coop campaign, etc, and I cry a little.

Yea I think people who are familiar with survival sandboxes know what to expect. I don't think the game will live up to its hype mainly because some people seem to think it's going to compete with a game like Star Citizen, but I think it will still be pretty amazing.
