To your points: Costs are part of the reason as well. Business is complex. But, we can still look at Microsoft’s strategy and quite clearly see that they’re leading the charge in reducing quality. yea but here’s the thing. market cap wise sony is ranked 115ish in the world, nintendo maybe in the top 200. whereas microsoft is top 3 biggest companies in the world by valuation. so if you don’t look at console sales - which is fair - you should look at revenue per year and per quarter as the new barometer. sony and nintendo have out-revenues microsoft … always. microsoft knows this and plays their strong suite - software and cloud infrastructure delivery. they cram it down our throats. <...

Ahh - it's fun to come back to these comments and see how poorly many aged. We all know now the red ring of death (RRoD) was one of Microsoft's biggest and most expensive blunders! Sony won that one easily.

Personally, I don't feel that Microsoft will stand a chance against the CAT. Especially after reading the details in the CMA's 415 pg. decision. I believe the CMA was thorough in their review. It will be even more detrimental if the EU surprises us and also decides against this deal. But, I think we've all learned by now to never say never until it is absolutely a never.
I'm not on a side here but wanted to call out that Apple recently appealed a CMA decision and won (March 31, 2023). They appeal to the Competition Appeals Tribune (CAT). It's a last ditch effort that Microsoft/ABK can make but it's not impossible. We'll see how that goes...
Now I wonder what the EU will say next month.
I like us all adapting to the future of games delivery. Just not the cloud streaming type. At least not until the bandwidth and underlying infrastructure makes this more realistic. I don't want second-rate games that better fit the current bandwidth requirements.

Microsoft acquired over 200 companies and is one of the top 3 largest companies in the world. They're worth 10 times more than Sony and then some. So, ya. You're really not well informed.

@MIDGETonSTILTS17 you're spot on. Gamer's don't know how to think about this intelligently and ask all the questions regarding economics or business strategy. This deal will go through. But, it shouldn't.
