The most predatory part here is they are getting gamers to believe this is 'good.' But, really they're just luring them back in (to an inferior service if they remove COD - which reduces the value of the offering). Once these gamers are back on board Asha will ram ADS down their throats (afterall thats why she was hired).
Why anybody thinks this is a bargain, or trusts a word from Microsoft is unfathomable. They've done NOTHING good to the game industry a...
Well, its still $275.88 for the year. And, they're peeling away COD (rumored). For comparison - Sony has had the same price since 2023. And, it's $160 for their PS Plus Premier. No drama. IDK - if people here think paying even $23 for an inferior service is a 'bargain' who am I to judge :-D. And remember, Microsoft is just trying to get you back...once they roll out their ad revenue initiatives (which is why they hired Asha), they'll happy you returned so they can shov...
Incorrect. GP cost $20 p/mon in 2024. Now it’s $23. That’s still an increase.
People are dumb. It was 19.99 July 2024. It went to 29.99 Oct 2025. Now it’s 22.99 and somehow that’s a win?! That’s $275.88 a year and a year of PS Plus Premium is $160.
Anybody who thinks this is a win needs to see a doctor.
Oh btw - not charging $29.99 mean less revenue/profit. You wanna know how Microsoft Helix will make up that difference? Enjoy the flood of ADS you’re about to see in your console. Morons.
NYk9 - You are absolutely legendary. Finally a logical person on the internet looking for a direct, non-speculative source like....oh you know...SONY! Thank you for your service sir. You are but a small minority unfortunately.
sounds about right
Hi Chris - thank you for updating us. One can't help but relate the sites issues to the fairly recent change in ownership. Alas, godspeed and all the best in the endeavor. Hopefully there will come a day when things are back to normal.
Hi Chris - thank you for updating us. Godspeed!
Last November, Sony president Hiroki Totoki called single-player games “our strengths” and said they “have a higher predictability of becoming hits due to our proven IP.” As for live-service projects, which Totoki said “pursue upside while taking on a certain amount of risk,” van Dreunen continues, “They’re cutting scope, not quitting. Half the slate is gone, Marathon is delayed, and leadership now talks about ‘failing fast.’ Think less of a [live-service] flood, more of a trickle.”

Gotta pay for those mega-acquisitions.
With this dudes track record; why would anybody believe him?
Move to AWS? Use some scaling solutions and such?
Let me clarify when I say Sony and Nintendo out-revenue Microsoft; I am meaning solely their gaming segments of business.
To your points: Costs are part of the reason as well. Business is complex. But, we can still look at Microsoft’s strategy and quite clearly see that they’re leading the charge in reducing quality. When they are leading in games delivery via a GaaS model; they’re relying on a lesser quality - easier to deliver model ‘netflix of games’. Remember how netfli...
yea but here’s the thing. market cap wise sony is ranked 115ish in the world, nintendo maybe in the top 200. whereas microsoft is top 3 biggest companies in the world by valuation. so if you don’t look at console sales - which is fair - you should look at revenue per year and per quarter as the new barometer. sony and nintendo have out-revenues microsoft … always. microsoft knows this and plays their strong suite - software and cloud infrastructure delivery. they cram it down our throats. <...
Is it me or does this look bad? Maybe going the way of Cyberpunk? All hype.
BIG BROTHER
Ahh - it's fun to come back to these comments and see how poorly many aged. We all know now the red ring of death (RRoD) was one of Microsoft's biggest and most expensive blunders! Sony won that one easily.
Wouldn't the answer here be ... all of them?
Personally, I don't feel that Microsoft will stand a chance against the CAT. Especially after reading the details in the CMA's 415 pg. decision. I believe the CMA was thorough in their review. It will be even more detrimental if the EU surprises us and also decides against this deal. But, I think we've all learned by now to never say never until it is absolutely a never.
Chris thank you for everything. I’ll still be checking every day; but since comments will go away you should know how much you’re appreciated. All the best.
