also the risk is to the industry and gamers is that if they put in half the development hours to give you a PVP online only game, does someone that gives you both a full PVP and PVE game start charging $110..... Could this start a bad trend?
IF the article is in direct reference to Overwatch - short answer - No.
Less short answer - No. But if they have content that lets people play for an extended period of time and flesh out the online only game maybe.
Destiny - Yes - Has PVP and PVE content so is worthwhile
Overwatch - No - Doesn't have enough content even with Bots as a diversion for offline. It still needs far more maps and modes for the asking price
I would have brought a XBone if Halo had of been a release game. It's the reason I love the Micro$ console. But definitely won't think twice again if this is the case. Sony and PC for life now !
Fair point, but it does make the game feel very disjointed that it takes so long to get back into the fray on some maps in my BETA play through.
It's not a dealbreaker but I noticed it and have heard it mentioned a few times by gaming review sites while playing the BETA also, but seems to be missing information in this batch of final reviews.
has any of the reviews addressed the 6 minute (feels that long) run back into battle after dying or have they changed this upon release??
Define old.
I'll think you'll find the thousands still playing TF2 will be considered "Old" by you so how do you figure?
There would be many will be over 30 I'd imagine so define old?
a lot of effort clearly went into this game however when you consider it is really a TF2 upgrade and that is for free you would expect it at about half the price it is.
It does feel kinda empty at the moment, the updates better come thick and fast.
Also why is it far dearer on console to download, than to actually buy a physical copy. That pretty bad! Here in AUS $99 for download, $72 to buy off shelf??
E3 must be coming up. So these questions continue to be pushed for the next few weeks trying to prompt Valve into a comment. *Sigh*
"let it go, let it go, can't hold it back anymore!"
It's never coming out, I'm not sure why Valve continue to feign interest. Portal 3 will probably be announced or a new Orange box with LFD3 and no HL if there is any chance of something at E3.
Anyway, Gordon Freeman would have died from old age by now o...
Good- Swapping characters during a match
Good- Its fun
Good- It's a console clone of TF2
Bad- Its a console clone of TF2 and TF2 is 10 years old
Bad- There's not much to it and it's been years in Dev, WTF have they been doing with their time
Bad- Maps... Where are the maps
Bad- Rejoin the fight - Where did that 6 minutes go
Bad- No really it takes you 6 minutes to rejoin the fight after death
Bad- Se...
nice. hopefully Valve pull fingers out with the Portal 3 (Not really a demo and a full game lol)
Score 1 for a reason to now buy a Vive
Now if we could just play on the Vive -
Portal, Portal 2, Skyrim and some Fallout 4 on this thing I'm done for the rest of my gaming life thanks!
hasn't been too bad.
my major 2 problems:
1. not many people playing so takes ages for a match to make
2. reminds me of a poor Borderlands so have been playing Handsome collection more than BBorn :(
dont care about anything. as ive said for the last 4 years I LOVE Hex and want to marry her. When she says 3 chickens, I dont hear a thing, i buy the game anyways. Love you Hex <3 <3 <3
Thats why I said TF3 would kill it off. TF2 is nearly 10 years old now and Overwatch is still behind it IMO.
It really should be much better than it is. Unless they are holding something back from the BETA it's not going to hold many months of interest before it's a forgotten game even with the name Blizzard behind it. There just isn't enough of it at the moment to take away from other games.
Is it fun - Yes, does it look good - Yes
D...
@Kreisen exactly. I really want to like this be it seems very light on content.
I have a feeling if Valve decided to pull the finger out and do an Orange Box 2 (Portal 3, Half Life Final and Team Fortress 3) the Team Fortress 3 element on consoles alone will kill off most of these wannabees. Overwatch has potential but its sadly lacking in major amounts of content for a pvp only game
The list should read
Portal
Portal 2
Skyrim
Fallout 3, NV and 4...
That is all!
there's no story, its just a campaign. But its still a good blast for a few hours more than most for sure. Got mine 2 days ago :)
I totally agree, just not enough content and maps at the moment. A few more modes, maps and the ability to change character mid game after death and this is a tonne more fun.
The game has some fun elements but seems a bit lacking in content for PvP. Which then leads you to have a go at PvE and there isn't much to do after the 1st few. Not sure how they'll fix this with DLC but they will need to beef it up in a hurry to avoid drop off in player numbers. It needs some improvement for PvP, wish you could swap out characters between deaths like Overwatch.
Played the Overwatch beta and it felt bare as hell. I kept giving it a go but that 6 ...
It's not a 2nd rate experience but you cant tell me that as much work goes into a AAA with both PVP and PVE is the same as a MP only game. Lets give it a fake value in years : AAA with both 3 year dev cycle, AAA with MP only 1.5 years as it is only half of the other game. It's about being fair to the consumer.
Overwatch is a perfect example of this, there is no storyline there is no backstory thought and lore even as a challenge and world to build the characters aro...
