In all honesty, these type of games release ALL THE TIME. They just go under the cover of darkness. Because why wouldn't they?
Also I have no idea why the above reminded me of this but..... anyone ever play Tresspaser? It was a thing back in the day, before my time. It now has a cult following because in a shitty weird way....its kinda awesome. Its so bad its good...kinda...but its terrible..but great.

While I agree new ips are kinda necessary, they still manage to make Mario and Zelda feel new and make amazing entries each time. Mario has about 7 different types of games in there. Side scroller - Mario 64 - kart etc

I don't care, It was a great game. An amazing game. Who gives crap where it stems from. I'm extremely happy Capcom experimented and RE4 was the result. I would take RE4 over any other RE despite how much I love RE1-3. RE4 was a better experience.
Edit - I mean **** I just booted my PS3 for the first time in ages I have RE4, SoTC and Okami installed. ****! What a trio
RE4 had a great atmosphere. Definitely horror-esque.
Seriously, people have anti rose tinted glasses for RE4 these days.
Its not RE4's fault that RE5 and 6 sucked. Whoever made 5 and 6 failed to see what made 4 so good.
Really, people are nuts, RE4 received nothing but critical and fan acclaim on release. It was different than the previous titles sure. Doesn't make it any less amazing that it was.
