New engine was announced for next Modern Warfare a couple weeks back.
However even that wont make me buy it, Uncharted 3 & Battlefield 3 are at the top of my list.

The only reason why it might look better on PS3 is because, Once upon a time the team Crytek, or w.e they're called said specifically that they wont port anything, and they'll start from scratch on each system.
Something along those lines.
Its going to be a battle between This and Battlefield 3.

Uncharted 3 graphics will beat Battlefield 3 console version I think.
However, the PC version of BF3 will be (I need to invent a new word) Magnilliant. Honestly, that video was pure QUALITY.
For me, Battlefield has been the top.
I got Black Ops release day and sold it within a week. Terrible game. Now i'm playing COD4 till Killzone 3 hits the shelves.
Back on topic, I however much i like BF, i dont think it will ever sell as much as COD. Maybe Long term, BF will catch up (Sales), but short term it's COD.
Patience is the key.
