It's all about the money and building the M$ empire.
Sony has invested a great deal of money on games but it's basically been a bust in the eye's of the bean counters. When Greenburg ( what happen to him??? ) comes out and says Halo 3 sold more than all Sony exclusives COMBINED, he's echoing what is being said in the M$ meetings.
Why should they dump millions on exclusives and assume all the risk when third party is out selling all the exc...

Who searches COD or MW3...O_o...NOBODY, it's the biggest release of the year and the information is front and center.
In regards to the article comparing Battlefield and COD...the only reason Battlefield is even mentioned in the same breath as COD is because EA is launching their wannabe at the same time, well, they were going to but have since ran off to hide ( camp ) much like their fan base gaming on line, in October now...smart move.

Making excuses tend to never go over well but it's not the best time of year for a release. Kids are out of school and busy enjoying the holidays and warm weather. Some of course have started jobs and I think early/mid October would of been better.
I think all games need a serious multi-player or co-op component to sell better. There have been exceptions but if you want full price, you need to add some sort of value. I can't believe the L.A Noire numbers....

Personally, I think they should stay separate. Competition is good, it drives down prices and really helps with creativity as one tries to top the other. If they all agree to come together you basically have a mafia that will control prices meaning EVERYTHING will cost ...

You have to believe with Gears 3, Forza, Halo CE Anniversary edition, Witcher 2 and all the Kinect stuff that M$ is going to be tough to beat this holiday. Just look at the previous sales of FPS's on Xbox and with Rage, Battlefield and COD MW3 dropping as well...this could indeed be the biggest year in XBOX history.

I think Sony should brag some more because if PS3 was more popular, them M$ would have to respond. Releasing some cold hard numbers would help as well.
Instead...M$ is running around spending 8.5 billion on Skype, signing Massive deals with RIM and Facebook and Xbox just continues to be the best selling console with the best selling motion control device with basically no exclusive games...0_o

I didn't play in the " permanent death " type of way but I agree with the sentiment that Far Cry 2 was one of the best this gen and definitely one of my favorite games not only this gen but all time as well. Playing on hardest difficulty will wake you up in a hurry.
The sound and graphics are breath taking...yes, it's changed a bit as time tends to make things look older with every new game release but once you get into the game it all disappear...
