Too Human looks good , UE3 is not as great at some things as say CryEngine 2. Yet without UE3 there would of been no Gears,UT3 and alot of other games still to come.

You must look at sonys earnings overall not just in the area of what ps3 software brings in. The ps3 may be in 3rd yet you forget how big a money maker ps2 has been and still is. Its success is what drives the ps3/psp and allows them to be at such a high price point.
Not only that but there are millions of people who pay SOE monthly for subscriptions to various MMO's like EQ1,EQ2,VSoH,SWG. Thats alot of dough. Thats like $15 a month minimum per person. Lots of dough.

Consoles always drop prices and take losses on hardware (accept in wii's case which profits due to low manufacturing costs), In favor of reaping there money back on games , supscriptions and accessories and then towards the end of a consoles life cycle they will make money on the hardware.

In the West its more of a rugged Soldier/merc persona. (Duke Nukem,Marcus Fenix)

Indeed, good points. East does have the art and plots strength while the west's strength is newer genre's ie FPS,RTS, action RPG's.
I think the crutch of the east is turnbased gameplay , and the crutch of the west is engines designed for fps'.
Western RPG's and MMO's are improving. Still they don't drive a story as well as a Jrpg yet.
On the flip side the level of interactive control always seems better to me in a western rpg though most times at the expense of losing the element of a solid party system.

Developers whom use traditional methods, applications to develop on ps3 are not developing games properly for ps3.

Im not convinced those wires are actually executing that monster. They could be coming from the monster and killing its prey because the wires look thicker when there closer to the monster.
Also the wires don't seem to touch the body/center of the monster.
