I completely agree, I think this guy's column was pretty dumb. In fact, I'd say that he remained ignorant to the technology he was investing in (the battery part shows how stupid the situation was).

He deserved to have a bad experience. He did NOT deserve the chance to write about it and possibly influence other parents in investing in video games. Suddenly, he's an "expert" because he has a "column." That's usually how these things work.

I think that's even more of a problem. If simple things like batteries were proprietary, then there would be even more complaints. I've killed batteries on the Wii pretty quick in some games, and I'm grateful that all I need is a good supply of rechargeable AA's.

If I had to go out and buy a proprietary Wii Remote battery from Nintendo, it would probably cost twice as much, and last equally as long as cheaper rechargeable AA's do.

I don't think he went THAT far, but I'm betting that he sort of "stuck to his guns" on the story, regardless of how ridiculous and hole-filled it is.

I don't remember him ever fessing up to saying he should have researched it. He's blaming Nintendo for a lot of things that have existed for years.

Funny enough, he DOES complain about buying batteries as well.

Do you think there could be a lot of backlash? I bet there's a lot of people wanting it on 360 and PS3.

That's why I'm almost sick of the Zelda talk. Even after all the confirmation of 2010, it's never a guarantee with Nintendo. I want to hear more about Metroid and how development is going on that.

I guess I am on team Metroid, hehe.

I don't care for this story at all. Anytime someone is investing a lot of money in electronics like game consoles, they should do their research.

Plus he says that the Wii Remotes are $49, aren't they $40?

I think it sort of epitomizes the "brainless consumer." He really should have looked into it all before buying, returning, then getting cranky about it.

By June, will his controversy be a non-story? Does anyone think sales will be affected by all of his shenanigans?

Because as it is, people buy Tiger Woods games. I'm curious if there will be any sort of dip. Stuff is still getting brought up, and something happens that makes it a hot issue as it nears the game's release, I could see EA Sports delaying it.

With all the mini games that have been in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, maybe this one could make it.

Or there could be a "hit the tree with your car" mini game.

You know, considering we've heard or seen NOTHING about Metroid minus the fact that they are still confirming it for 2010, I'm a bit unsettled about that one. Aonuma doesn't stop talking about the new Zelda. I honestly want to hear more about Metroid: Other M.

Ultimately, that seems like the riskier, more exciting game to me. I'm convinced one of these two will slip to 2011.

I was a little surprised that they stuck with Tiger, but I guess everything blows over, it isn't that much of a big deal anymore.

I didn't expect this from XSEED or Marvelous. Especially since Marvelous was involved in No More Heroes. I thought the quality would be much better, but this game is awful.

Really makes the whole action RPG genre seem doomed on the Wii.

I always had the impression that Majora's Mask was sort of abandoned. Like the black sheep of the whole series.

Kudos to them for stepping out and making something new. Unless you have to waggle to put a mask on. That would suck.

As a rule, I try to veer away from blatant rumors like this. But there's something about the Zelda series that I can't stop looking into more and more.

Must be because of all the hype surrounding this upcoming game being changed so much.

Think about the Check Mii Out Channel. I'm sure some people have created dozens, maybe hundreds. Other families probably create a few but don't go to crazy.

Still, 100 million sounds almost scary. Like a little virtual Nintendo army. Sounds like a nightmare I'm going to have tonight, a 100 million Mii Parade.

That's a really, really good point. If everyone knows they can watch Netflix on the Wii, then some of the people that haven't gone online with it yet will make more of an effort to.

Plus, The Office is awesome. If you like that show, you'd probably like Modern Family too.

Very true. Which is also why I don't think Netflix on Wii is NECESSARY at all.

However, it could help push along streaming video services if it catches on enough.

Not to mention, couldn't this help Nintendo fully realize, if this is successful, that consumers like game consoles that have more media features than playing games?

You think 50 million Wii owners don't care about Netflix or HD? That's a pretty broad brush you're painting with.

I think the people on N4G are a pretty small population of a niche market. Not enough to base any conclusions on. Especially any fanboys you encounter, they aren't nearly representative of the whole population of Wii owners.

Two things:

1. Me too. I think they underestimate the importance of visuals in gaming. However, I DO like the ways they innovate in their games as well.

2. Pennywise was one of my first concerts. Nice!

In the article, Reggie says this:

"But even more importantly than that, the consumer has voted. Over 26 million consumers have bought a Wii. so the consumer is saying for them, the quality of the visual is not nearly as important as the overall entertainment, the overall value of that experience, and that's really what's propelled us."

I don't like that the NOA president is now drawing those same conclusions. I think some Wii gamers really DO enjoy high qu...
