It's great that you enjoyed those MP modes.
Different strokes, I suppose.
It's unnecessary for single player games like Uncharted, Tomb Raider and The Last of Us.
Perhaps a performance patch would suffice like what FROMSOFTWARE did with Dark Souls 3 for the PS4 Pro.
I'm not sure about Death Stranding but the 1st Uncharted game was mediocre. Heavy Rain' story was interesting until that garbage plot twist.
This author just missed the point on why people/gamers don't play certain games despite its appeal. It boils down to what they can afford.
Only a single digit percentage of gamers are "whales" who can spend money on a whim. The vast majority of gamers are not like that.
"Lack of polish" or AAA status did not stop gamers from buying games like Fifa 20 or NBA 2K20.
I don't know about getting into VR. Microsoft will have streaming that will put Stadia to shame. Sony is still getting its grip on VR. Nintendo has the handheld market. I actually like that these big 3 have their own unique product or service.
Very glad to see Nintendo doing so well with the Switch.
I second that.
Answer to the title...
Keep making quality first party games.
This would be great. I would like to see all the consoles do well next generation.
Okay, I will confess, I have no love for Google Stadia and will not care if or when it flops.
I hope it's true and can lead to more games being made next generation instead of just bigger and more ambitious games.
I still play games with my friends in my or their house. I find gaming a lot more fun like this and streaming will not help.
On an unimportant note: My PS4 looks beautiful in my lounge. I don't need that black box eliminated.
I hate articles like this. Let me rather read a ten thousand word article on one page instead of breaking it up in 15 webpage.
The Witcher 3 is an absolute masterpiece.

We're all here giving our own opinion, dude. You don't have to agree but being dismissive is not going to work.
That game is easy to platinum.
Darksiders 3 and Batman Arkham Knight was awesome as well as Detroit Become Human.
I may not have taken all the free monthly games this year but I certainly got my money's worth and then some.
Single player games are dead, my ass.
Suck it EA.
Well said, mate.
