Did you just seriously link Re-Core as something to prove your point?
Multiplats are the main sellers but exclusives are what sells the console. The strength of diverse and strong performing exclusives isn't in the copies it sells but the minds of potential customers they sway to buy into the brand instead of the alternatives.
MS exclusives are big don't get me wrong but they are pretty linear in terms of target audience, hence why the Xbox sells well in America and U.K. And horribly elsewhere in comparison.

Regardless the only benefit the new adopter will see is in future games due to having no back library. So in that scenario there's still not enough to make people take the high priced gamble.
But for people that are currently on a different system they wont have any of the games to benefit from, there isnt enough there to make people take a full jump.
If your upgrading great you get to play your current library a bit better, but its a big ask for a newcomer to jump ship completely.
I know 2 people getting it and they are both already Xbox fanboy owners. I havnt heard a sniff of anyone else interested whether it be casual or hardcore it doesn't matter.
The main demographic sadly doesn't really seem to be hardcore gamers but hardcore Xbox gamers, until it starts to show something more than it currently has that's not going to happen.

It has never really pushed any format graphically but the core gameplay with some friends is second to none.
Can't recommend this series enough to anyone that has 2 or 3 mates to play with.
I got a WiiU just to play MH on the "pad" and that was the best version I have played for ages.
I get the whole mobile scene trying to force socialising at mates house or something but finally all of us anti social bastards get to sit down and communicate through voice in our home.

I play everything on hard because otherwise they are generally too easy. I can't sit down and rampage through the game on normal where's the fun in that.
As someone said, I'm not a fan of pure artificial difficulty like making things just unfair outright but a fair and balanced hard mode is something most people will want.
If you don't want hard mode fine but don't claim we don't need it because your trash at games.

Played this all way through on PC a few months ago and whilst the graphics are dated it doesn't detract away from how good the game is.
Not without its flaws (no fast travel until you get near the end of the game with way crystals, wouldn't of minded just some main points to travel too) but a great game nonetheless.
Wish I had some form of 4k capable device because news like this isnt accessible.

I think the angle they are taking is some form of SJW representation, the idea that people who identify as anything outside of the male / female heterosexual can now be catered for.
