I'm sure all software considered for gaming purposes will be licensed directly through Xbox... I don't think they will be able to bypass it by any means.
I'm sure they will all have to be Xbox Live compatible as well. Many of the games on Windows Store are not Xbox Live compatible, and they probably won't see the light of day on Xbox One... that and Microsoft may start requiring developers to make Windows RT games Xbox/Xbox Live compatible.
if Xbox One has complete access to the Windows RT store, the Windows 8 ecosystem will put Xbox on another level
exactly, this article would mean something totally different if it were CD Projekt Red saying the PS4 version will be 99% of the ultra settings on a PC.
Edit: Even though, they probably will look pretty close.
I've always had an interest in special edition consoles. I find it odd that Sony has never been keen on making special edition consoles, at least to the same degree that Microsoft does, when their user base is made of mostly care gamers.
It gives each consumer/gamer a sense of uniqueness and personality. Microsoft goes as far as to customize both the console and the controller. The Halo 4 Special Edition was sweet.
I hope to see more of the same with b...
I don't think the "Apple Market" is the same as the gaming market. "Adults" get Apple products. The same adults that think gaming is for kids and a waste of time.
Not that all Apple users don't like gaming (I'm typing on an iMac), but Apple knows the majority of their revenue is coming from a certain class of customer, the class that doesn't have time for video games.
It's not a money factor obviously, an iPad costs $...
I think companies underestimate the "less is more" concept. If digital-only (no second hand sales) were sold at $40-$50 MSRP, their sales would sky rocket and so would profit.
Shenmue made it popular... only one of the most respected games of all time.
Anyone else think it's odd that there is so much hostility during the console launches when new consoles is literally what made Christmas's so great as a child?
It's supposed to be an exciting and happy time, folks...
...
Actually, now that I think about it... getting consoles is still an exciting and happy time. Talking about it on the internet however is where the hostility comes in.
Man, I remember the PS2 launch... that was some real craziness.
Concerning your image:
Hey, the PS4 has a freaking light bar and touchpad on it... I'm not trying to start anything, but let's just be honest that both consoles have "additional" shit that isn't necessary.
This is somewhat of a cool feature. I partly enjoy this function on Steam, but a common problem with both Steam and probably with the next consoles is that spoilers may be captured... let's face it, there are people that like to ruin endings for people. So hopefully there is some kind of monitoring system in place so that it can be flagged or something for spoilers or inappropriate content.
I think developers and publishers might enjoy this feature as a research tool. ...
@JokesOnYou
I get what you're saying. I'm not really saying I expect as much, I'm just saying this should be the goal. On cloud processing language- If I'm not mistaken, doesn't Siri and Galaxy both use their respective clouds to process what voice commands we say and then sends back data accordingly? But sure, I'm just being idealistic here.

Good point... but there's a great illusion of a connected living room when yo...
Exactly, I feel like if the voice recognition is spot on, it could truly replace your controller, and I'm hoping the camera is everything they say it'll be, but we'll have to wait and see.
But the goal with voice recognition should be to make it as conversational as possible. We should get away from having to say activation phrases, such as Xbox Snap Skype... anything should be recognizable as long as you speak to Xbox.. such as "Xbox, who's on Skype?&qu...
"Nero’s youngest son, Basillius, enjoys anything carnal or cruel. At the Colosseum he delights in watching gladiators kill each other, and lords over the terrified slaves he keeps in his harem in the bowels of the structure."
We all know this story is going to borrow a lot from Gladiator, so I can't wait to see how far they go in the Coliseum arena. Let's just hope the story is good and the gameplay is addictive.
I think he's so relatable, particularly to gamers, because he never for a moment seems like a businessman.
I still want to believe, despite all the devs saying otherwise. Microsoft is has been forward thinking, and they'll eventually fulfill their vision. The fact that Xbox turned out to be the new standard of multiplayer and that Xbox 360 turned out to be an entertainment streaming hub is no coincidence.
And to speculate for a moment: Isn't Direct X 11.2 implement a new method of graphics rendering, called Tiling, where the hardware focuses on tiles that are relevant at...
Photo realistic visuals... Wouldn't that be traumatizing?
Resident Evil (the original) was one of the most iconic moments in my gaming life. A game that was literally too scary to play alone, and even with a friend, you still didn't feel safe. I guess it didn't help we had all the lights off too.
This game hopefully brings back the magic.
Giving us options was always the right choice, but limiting second hand sales and piracy will always be an agenda with the big companies. Having Steam-like sales is a beautiful thing, but Sony and Microsoft are already doing their own sales, they're just not getting credit for it. And there is also this false delusion that PC games are inherently cheaper, this is definitely not the case. New games on PC, just like any console, are listed at retail price. It's only six months later...
but all of the RT apps are designed with touch-interface in mind... which in my opinion isn't too different than Kinect. If you can touch an icon on a tablet screen, then I'm sure you can motion your hand to point to a "clickable" object on the TV...
of-course this is all theory... I wouldn't want to do my taxes on my Xbox.
edit: @abriael, good point (no pun intended)
