buy vehicles mid-round? The fastest thing I can pull from my mind is Quake Wars, but I might be mistaken because it was quite some time ago.

But that's not the point, is it? The "reviewer" didn't even talk about how battle points are used for vehicles, but how the "battle points" system itself is such a distinguishing factor for the game.
Whereas in reality, a similar system has been used to varied degrees in tons of other games (from count...

The game's main distinguishing factor when it comes to online will likely be the Battle Points system which you may or may not have heard about... You do get to spawn with 500 Battle Points giving you the ability to select early on the gear you need to get started, such as flak vests or recon equipment, and get into the action with your chosen class.

So this game is so unique unique because it contains the ability to shop? Unlike any other game in existence? Counter-Strik...

@Ranshak:
There are a few reasons why we saw a decline in 2009 over 2008 and again in 2010 in NPD:

1) In 2008 we had the two best selling standalone games in this generation of consoles: GTA IV for the X360/PS3, and Mario Kart for the Wii. These kind of 20+ million seller tend to tip the scale and there are very few of them (we also had a yearly COD title, but that's just like every other year).

2) In 2009, console hardware prices went down for al...

And on what difficulty level did you complete the game? Do you have the achievements to back it up?

I second Projekt7tuning. starchild: That was a very interesting first hand impressions, so thanks!

@bluwulf:
You didn't back up any claim that you made about these comparison, but that doesn't really matter because you're going to say that the game is not out yet and it will not "survive" retail.

So here's an easier job for you with a game that survived retail release: Halo Reach. This is one game that I think looks amazing. ...

Yeah, you played it. And luckily your "review" (that has nothing to do with the subject of the article) is very to the point and doesn't sound like general nonsense that any idiot who never played a game could write without actually providing examples from the game itself.

This probably has NOTHING to do with the fact that you're a butt-hurt fanboy threatened by the fact that any kind of multiplaform game will steal a little thunder from the almighty Killzon...

Can't believe the amount of whining I see here.
We finally have a generation with some healthy competition: all three players have healthy business right now, are selling well, providing a good catalog of games (even the Wii is not all that terrible). Ad none of them went bankrupt - something that we experienced in each and every one of the previous generations.

So someone is selling a bit more here, someone else is selling a bit more there. Why bring up all these...

@TWB:
"while morrowing and KOTOR were a success on consoles, they were still pretty much neglected for Dragon quest VIII, FFX or Even FFXII"

No they weren't neglected. They simply didn't sell on the same console or had the same userbase so if you're trying to make a "who sold better" point then it's irrelevant (WRPGs were almost exclusively offered on the Xbox while JRPGs were mainly on the PS2).
Only in this generation we t...

I think that you miss his complaint.
He didn't complain that he didn't expect the game to be hard in the higher difficulty level, but rather that this difficulty level made him notice another issue with the game voice acting described in the next paragraph (that's a leading sentence):
"While dying several times over, the voice acting becomes an issue. Not that it’s garishly bad, notice that the talent is competent, but the sound engineer isn’t. Music cues some...

@Troll-without-Bridge
You actually bring up a better point: Morrowind and Kotor.

Before those games, console players had to live with lousy JRPGs that had ridiculous plots, terrible writing and zero freedom and choice - which is the thing that defines a proper RPGs.
Proper RPGs lived in the realm of the PC for decades: The Ultima series, SSI games, Fallout, Planescape, Neverwinter, Diablo, Krondor, Lands of Lore, the almighty Baldurs gate... the list goes on. ...

2) For any pro player, screen tearing is a much smaller issue then frame drops. In fighting games every frame counts, and if you missed a frame it might cost you the match.

@Organization XII
Delusional, aren't you?

"Consoles are DX9 based API hardware"
Sony has nothing to do with DX9, which is a tech developed by MS. Sony uses a different set of libs.
"so no they cant handle tessellation."
The X360 also has features not supported by regular DX9 ... like hardware tessellation.

So much stupidity spreads around in here, IGN with their not-so-professional analysis are partly to blame but so many people here got their fact so wrong it's sad...

Fact 1:
Hardware tessellation is enabled in the Xbox GPU. Halo Reach used it for water, Halo Wars used it for terrain, and even god damn Viva Pinata used it for characters back in around 2006 - So much for the "but to my knowledge it's never been used" in IGN, and so much for some butt-h...

I'll take a slightly SubHD game that offers Global Illumination and HDR over any 720x1280 game that has no HDR+Global Illumination. After you get used to proper lighting, going back to games that miss these features the color and lighting just doesn't look right.
It basically feels like how going back from VGA games to EGA games felt back in the day...

If you expect parity with the cheaper and older Xbox 360, why don't you complain to Sony? Big open world games require a lot of video RAM, and unfortunately that's something that is lacking on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 - but in the PS3 just a little more because the OS is more resource hungry and because the memory is split. It's not Rockstar's fault that you agreed to pay more for a console that has less available video RAM.

I'm personally still surpr...
